Fairy tales: horror stories to get children used to reality.

St. Valentine's Day Singers wanted.

On February 13, 14 & 15, 2002, we will be delivering love songs, roses and candy to lovers around the Greater Montreal area. We will be doing it in quartets and we need YOU!

Mike Nichols, Jerry Silverberg and their helpers are organizing the event, and all we need are customers and singers.

So here is where you come in. You can post the great flyers at work, at church, in the barbershop, at the service station … you get the idea. Then you sell a Singing Valentine to a co-worker, friend, neighbour … you get the idea there, too.

The next thing you do is get three other guys (one from each of the other voice parts) form a quartet and learn the three songs we are going to use. You never know, but you may find out that you really love singing in a quartet and keep on going.

What does that do for the Chapter? Quartet singers tend to feel more confident and show it in their chorus singing, too. Not only that, but we will make some money for the chapter delivering Singing Valentines, and have a blast doing it.

Sing up, sing up, sell a few Singing Valentines, have a great time. That's all we have to do, and the best part is it is a lot of fun.

Saturday, February 2, is the Great Northern Harmony Workshop

It has only been on our list of required events for a year, so no one can be surprised to hear that we are all needed at the Salle Claude Champagne at 8:00 AM on Saturday.

Steve Wheaton has done a great job in organizing the faculty and courses for what, in my opinion, is the best one-day Harmony School anywhere in the Society.

We are going to be coached for half of the day and can spend the other half-day learning more about this great hobby.

If you haven't already registered, you need to give Steve your form and $65.00 on Monday night. If you have registered, be there bright and early on Saturday, ready to learn a lot of great information. Remember the super coaching we got from Jim Henry last year?

PLEASE NOTE that we will be performing as part of the day's events. DO NOT PLAN TO LEAVE until the day is complete (approx. 6:00 PM)!

NOTE # 2: If you can host a faculty member, please call Steve Wheaton immediately (or talk to him if you are reading this on Monday evening.

NOTE # 3: Be prepared to have fun! Singing well is great fun and that is what we are doing.

Some Songs that should be.

Agony in the TeePee (or, The Pain Was In Tents)

Better to have loved a short girl, than never to have loved a tall.

Black is the Color of My Love's True Hair.

Don't Cut through the Wheat Field, Granny, You're Going Against the Grain.

Don't Go Through the Screen Door, Mother, You'll Only Strain Yourself.

Every time we throw a party, she beats me to the punch.

Get down to the railroad tracks, Mother, and find your father some ties.

Head to the roundhouse, Nellie; he can't corner you there.

I can row a boat, canoe?

I don't want to set the world on fire, I just want a little heat in the car.

If I had a nose full of nickels, I would sneeze all my nickels achoo.
