Singout, October 5, 2002?

Since we are not able to do the singout, Key of Eh? will take it on. The folks at St. Gabriel Church will be treated to a quartet instead of a chorus.

Fund Raising

Jerry Silverberg has received the orders for those great Chocolate Bars or Chocolate Covered Almonds. Tonight someone will be helping Jerry, and you will be able to get your order.

He is also getting ready to start the Cheese Sale for Christmas. The project will start in October.

Don't forget, a percentage of ALL the sales you make will be accumulated in your account and can be applied to the Fall Forward, costumes, etc.

International News

The AIC - Sing With The Champs Committee is responsible for taping the folks that sing up to sing with the reigning and former quartet champions during the specified sessions. There is a sign-up session and then the real fun where wanabees get to live the dream of singing with their favourite quartet in front of an appreciative audience.

The Association of International Champions looks after the hardest part of the project, lining up the quartets, and is in process of purchasing the recording equipment used to put the performances on tape for the aspiring "Champs." This event usually brings some excellent performances to the attention of the audience. Joel Rutherford, current bass of Acoustix was discovered as a result of singing with the Champs.

The Chairman of the AIC SWTC Committee is to be confirmed. If you are interested, speak to Murray Phillips.

All volunteers who wish to see any part of the contests MUST purchase a registration package.

Registrants (before January 1, 2003) will pay $100.00 US. Use the web link to register.

Gordon Lightfoot in Hospital

Gordon Lightfoot remains in stable condition at Hamilton Health Sciences. His surgeon, Dr. Michael Marcaccio, says Mr. Lightfoot has made "good progress" over the past seven days.

Lightfoot has a rare weakness in a blood vessel in his abdominal area. He was flown to hospital in Hamilton by an air ambulance from his hometown of Orillia, with internal bleeding.

Since arriving here, the 63-year-old has undergone a number of procedures, said Dr. Michael Marcaccio, chief of surgery at Hamilton Health Sciences and a gastrointestinal specialist.

Marcaccio said Lightfoot’s physical fitness and health - he works out four days a week and runs 16 kilometres a week, according to bandmates - has made a difference in treating him.

There is a slight possibility that there will be a Gordon Lightfoot concert in conjunction with International 2003.

Set up those risers, Leads.

Please lend a hand where you can.
