Report from Alan Kenley, Show Chairman

Only 5 weeks left to ShowTime. We had a great response to ticket sales last week. We have sold about 300 tickets the first week. Only 700 left to go.

We are discovering that a show on Sunday afternoon in March is a great time to have it. No baseball, football or hockey games on T.V. to keep the guys at home. Everyone can bring their parents and kids as well and the price is right.

Just go to your list of friends, family and business acquaintances and you will discover that most of them would love something to do on a weekend winter afternoon. All you have to do is ask them.

Sell those advertisements!

And remember free tickets with ads. I have already sold about $2,000.00 worth of advertising and given away tickets with the contracts. It's easy. Just ask for the orders. You will be surprised how many will say yes.

Jeffery Mance has agreed to handle ticket sales. Please see him as soon as possible, on Monday night with your commitment as the best seats are going fast. Thirteen members have already taken close to 300 tickets. WOW! This is a record.

Walter Mueller has agreed to handle the finances so to keep him happy we need to sell out the hall. Let's do it like we did in the old days.

Darren Prentice is in charge of set decorating and Bert Brossoit sound and lighting.

We need a volunteer to handle the program book. This includes the sale of advertising and the creative and assembly of the program book itself.

Please email AlanKenley@aol.com if you are in a position to look after this.

I will not be at the practice on Monday night but be sure to see Jeffery for tickets and Jerry Silverberg for ads.

Thanks everyone. Have a great practice

Here is the music line up for the show. Please pull out your music and tapes and make sure you have all of these numbers down pat.

Orange Colored sky
Witchcraft
Roses of Picardy
Sixteen tons
Old black magic
You'll never walk alone
Old fashioned love song
Summertime
If I had my way
Steppin out

We need to sell out the theatre. It can be done, and with YOUR help it will. We have placed an ad in Chanter, the magazine of the Alliance des Chorales du Québec, telling about the show. It will appear in the February issue.

Singing Valentines this week.

Have you signed up to sing? Have you sold a Singing Valentine? Are you ready to go?

Key of Eh? appeared on the "Andrew Carter Show on CJAD last Friday at 7:10 AM. We got a few sales out of that appearance, but we need more!

St. Valentines Day is this Friday, and that means we will be delivering songs of love to the workplaces of people from all over Montreal. It is a wonderful experience, and highly recommended for every member. See Stan Blicker to sign in. The opportunity to see the look of surprise, pleasure and love that comes with the delivery of two love songs, a rose, a box of chocolates and a card are priceless.

International News

The committee chairs met last Thursday to review our progress. The general consensus is that we are going in the right direction. We want people to remember Montreal 2003 as, The Best Ever.

The International Convention is going to take place in a little less than five months. We are starting to accumulate the reserve of volunteers needed to make this a successful convention.

Next Monday, please discuss your volunteer role for the International Competition with Alan Kenley. Remember, we will need everyone's total commitment the week of the Contest.

On Monday he needs the sign up sheets for anyone who haven't handed their's in yet.

If you know of any former members, friends and acquaintances who would like to see an International Convention from the inside, we can offer them a fun week and a souvenir shirt for their time and effort.

One of our guests last week, Howard Zingboim, City Councillor for the Borough of Dollard des Ormeaux/Roxboro has agreed to help shepherd the request for a proclamation of Harmony Week through council. Thanks for your help, Howard. Not only that, but he sings well, too.
