A song only has to sound like it means something.
Fall Forward 2004 - Oct. 8-10.
Thanksgiving weekend, October 8, 9 & 10 is the date for our fall "retreat." Since we plan to advance and not retreat it is called the "fall forward."
The cost will be $80, plus $8 for those who have dinner on Friday, October 8. There are single rooms. We will probably rehearse only Friday evening and Saturday, with a party on Saturday evening. The cost includes the rooms for Saturday night and breakfast and lunch on Sunday (with no discount for anyone who chooses to leave on Saturday night.)
This is a must for those going to competition, so plan on it. Do your best to rearrange plans if necessary.
We are going to compete!
This year includes several opportunities to see how well we are singing in the opinion of judges from different musical backgrounds.
We have entered the ARCIM competition on March 27, where we have been very well received in the past.
We are going to be recording our entry in the CBC Choral Competition on Tuesday, February 3, 2004. Our last attempt at this prestigious competition landed us a semi-finalist position. The CBC contest is held every two years, and we compete with other groups in similar categories (including Toronto Northern Lights.)
Of course, we also will be going to Division in the Albany area on March 19-20, 2004. The Chorus Contest is Saturday Morning.
Installation & Awards Dinner
The Installation and Awards Dinner will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2004 at the Cote St-Luc BarBQ. That is on Cote de Liesse at Monte de Liesse. The room is available from 7:00 PM and we will be able to enjoy a great evening at a reasonable price.
This is an evening that every member should attend. Spouses are more than welcome! Come and support the Chapter Executive, and find out who the award winners are for 2003.
Register for GNHW NOW!
During the afternoon of the Great Northern Harmony Workshop, we are going to be coached as a chorus You also get to choose one of the half-day sessions for the morning session to complement the coaching session.
The price is now $65. Since we all need to be registered, and in attendance, do it today!
Our featured guest quartet is MatriX along with NED's own Overdrive.
Sign up for Singing Valentines.
One of the best activities we carry out is the Singing Valentines. It is an opportunity to share our hobby with people celebrating their love, and at the same time making some money for the Chapter.
Now is the time to sell a few Singing Valentines. At $50 they are priced right. Check out our web site and see! http://www.nedistrict.org/montreal/
Show time is coming. Sell ads, tickets.
It's Show Time! Have you sold any ads yet? How about tickets? Have you thought about people you would like to invite to see you do "that thing you do on Monday nights?"
If we start now, we should be able to sell out the Salle Pierre Mercure, and have a great program.
