Rehearsal Location Changed.

If you are reading this at rehearsal, congratulations! You've found Darren's church. If you are reading this by email here is how to do it: Take Queen Mary west to MacDonald, turn left and 4940 MacDonald (St. Matthew's Church) is on the left.

Michigan Jake retires.

Another great champion quartet has decided to hang it up. The members of Michigan Jake have announced that they will be retiring due to the difficulties of their long distance relationship. They are a bi-coastal quartet, with a member from Florida, California and a couple in between.

They have a new CD coming out in Louisville, How Rhythm was Born. This has several new arrangements by David Wright and Mark Hale.

The AIC Show in Louisville will be their last.

Cumberland Bay Chorus Picnic.

On Sunday, July 18, 2004 the Plattsburgh Chapter will be holding their Annual Picnic. They will be supplying hamburgers, hot dogs, buns and all the condiments as well as soft drinks. All you need to bring is a dish or dessert to share with the others. There will be a "make up your own quartet" event, tags and lots of other fun. Why not plan to spend a day with fellow barbershoppers.

Computer Video to TV

Is there a (fairly) simple way to feed the webcast streaming video/audio into a television? Will I have to purchase a special kind of card or software for my computer?

Answer courtesy of Steve Currington, Harbour Capital Chorus, 2003 NZABS National Champion Chorus, Wellington, New Zealand. There are three or four ways of doing this.

  1. If your Video card on a PC has a TV out then simple connect the TV out to the TV and connect the sound card to your stereo with appropriate cords and wham, it is done. Modern Laptops often have this facility built in.
  2. Buy a video card for your PC with the feature and get it fitted. Then do above
  3. You can buy an external Video to TV converter unit. It is like a splitter box that splits the signal between a computer monitor but provides an extra output socket that can be taken to a TV. You connect one side to the video out on the PC and then reconnect your monitor to the monitor out on the splitter and connect the TV out to the TV. Again audio needs connecting to TV audio or stereo or whatever. Radio Shack stores should sell them. Check out http://www.ramelectronics.net/html/PC-TV_GEZ-1000.html for one example cheap one or for a better quality one try http://www.ramelectronics.net/html/PC-TV_video_adapter.html
  4. Another alternative would be to get a "data show" projector and then project the image using this to a blank wall or screen. These can be hired and are great for larger audiences like chapter gatherings etc. These again are simple to connect and nowadays many larger businesses use them for training etc purposes, replacing the old Overheard Projectors.
