You are getting old, when everything either dries up, or leaks.
We have lost Oryst Gudz.
Last Monday morning at 2:00 AM, Oryst Gudz lost his battle with cancer, and we lost a dedicated, loyal member and a good friend. Oryst was a bass among basses! He was our pedal on those low E flats, Ds and even D flats.
Oryst is survived by his wife Mary, his daughters Caroline and Laura and his grandchildren.
A group of the chorus members sang You'll Never Walk Alone at the funeral on Wednesday. This was Oryst's favourite song, and he had requested it be sung.
The family hosted a reception/luncheon following the funeral where we remembered Oryst and toasted his memory.
We will have a toast to Oryst this weekend at Division.
Contest is this weekend.
We hit the contest stage in Brattleboro, VT in 5 days. Review the plan for Beautiful Dreamer, review and be comfortable with the choreography of Give My Regards To Broadway and generally be ready to entertain the socks off our audience.
Are you ready? All aboard for Brattleboro!
What should I wear?
Don't forget to bring all the parts of your performance costume. Tux pants, shirt, bow tie, studs, vest, patent leather shoes, black socks.
Your green shirt and tan pants would make a good afternoon outfit.
Don't forget your photo ID!
To get into the US and back into Canada, you need a passport, or a valid birth certificate and photo ID.
Quartetting at 7:00PM, tonight!
We are starting again tonight, working on the Barber Pole Cat program.
All members who are interested in learning, or helping to teach are welcome to join in.
9 weeks to Show time!
Bert Brossoit, our Show Chairman extraordinaire, has given out show tickets to those who pre-ordered, and he is ready to receive money for the tickets already sold. He will provide additional tickets as rrequired.
Lets fill the program with business card ads, quarter pages, half pages… well you get the idea. Alan Kenley has agreed to be the advertising co-ordinator, and we need to talk to companies, our dentist, barber, you name it.
This will be a joint show, with the West Island Sweet Adeline Chorus and will feature Commonly Unique and our 2004 International Quartet Champions, Gotcha!.
Post Contest Show in Brattleboro.
We are singing in the show following the contests in Brattleboro, VT. We will compete, then eat, then entertain, and then leave for home.
The show will start at 7:00 PM, and we will be on first. We will be singing the Canadian (all English words) and American National Anthems with the Manchester Chapter to start the show, and then we will have our set from the following songs:
Then we hop on the bus and leave for home. We should arrive home about 1:30 AM.
