Interchapter night tonight.

Tonight, we welcome the members of the St. Lambert (South Shore) Chapter, as well as any other guests you would like to invite. It's an opportunity for both our choruses to sing for a real audience, so ask your friends and relatives to drop in and see how we are doing.

4 the Fun of it, a quartet from the Montreal Chapter of Harmony Inc. will also be coming to sing for us, as they prepare for their Area competition.

No quartetting at 7:00PM, tonight!

We will be starting again next week, but due to our 7:00 PM start to our meeting, we won't be working on the Barber Pole Cat program tonight.

All members who are interested in learning, or helping to teach are welcome to join in next Monday.

Contest is in 2 weeks.

We hit the contest stage in Brattleboro, VT in just over 2 weeks. Learn the plan for Beautiful Dreamer, review and be comfortable with the choreography of Give My Regards To Broadway and generally be ready to entertain the socks off our audience.

We are singing well, but there does appear to be room for improvement, if we are all on board. Are you ready? All aboard for Brattleboro!

Post Contest Show in Brattleboro.

We have been asked to participate in a show following the contests in Brattleboro, VT. We will compete, then eat, then entertain, and then leave for home.

The show will start at 7:00 PM, and we will be on first. We will be singing the Canadian (all English words) and American National Anthems with the Manchester Chapter to start the show, and then we will have our set from the following songs:

Then we hop on the bus and leave for home.

9 weeks to Show time!

Bert Brossoit, our Show Chairman extraordinaire, has given out show tickets to those who pre-ordered, and he is ready to receive money for the tickets already sold. He will provide additional tickets as rrequired.

Lets fill the program with business card ads, quarter pages, half pages… well you get the idea. Alan Kenley has agreed to be the advertising co-ordinator, and we need to talk to companies, our dentist, barber, you name it.

This will be a joint show, with the West Island Sweet Adeline Chorus and will feature Commonly Unique and our 2004 International Quartet Champions, Gotcha!.

Kevin Keller on our new logo.

There has been a lot of discussion on the Harmonet about the new Society logo. As usual, our coach has had a few good words to say about the controversy.

I took a management course a few weeks ago, and if you've taken one before, inevitably there is a survival game where you have to reach consensus on what to keep or what to do. For years, I would plod along and think I knew all of the answers and try to influence others to my way of thinking, only to find out that I didn't know squat. So this time, I answered to the best of my ability, and then when the team got together, I said, "These are merely my guesses, because I am not a survivalist. If someone has experience in this area, speak up, cause I don't.". And we actually did have someone who had some experience and we did better.

I kinda feel the same about this. I have heard knowledgable marketing folks talk about logos, ads, etc.. If they are good, they are keenly aware of impact, recognition, fonts, etc., etc. Do I like it? It's ok - doesn't wow me. I think that's because I've been a member for 27 years. But then again, I didn't display our "previous" logo overtly because it is dated - at least I knew that! I talked about our society for years as the BHS, not SPEBSQSA.

So, I am saying. "No, not particularly wild about the logo, but you marketing folks are smarter than I. I hope you are right". All that I want to see at the end of the day is that we get more members. If the marketing folks tell me that "hey, this is one of the first steps", then I step aside to their business and knowledge. Again, it chafes me that the same people who have been whining for years about "Kenosha not taking any action" are now whining because "Kenosha is taking action". Change is hard. But, no one has changed how you can enjoy your barbershop.
