"Exactly Like You" choreo great!

Here’s a big ‘Atta’ Boy to Drew Wheaton. Drew’s fertile brain came up with the simple, yet very effective choreography for our contest uptune.

He has made the moves uncomplicated, but appealing, and it will be interesting for our audience. Hopefully the judges will like it, too.

Editor needed for "The Pitch."

This has been seen in the Mini-Pitch/The Pitch before, but this time it is becoming urgent. The Phillips mansion will be going on the market very soon, and when it goes, your editor goes against the flow and "goes East, old man."

Before that happens, it is important to the Chapter to have a willing volunteer to publish a newsletter for the Chapter on a regular basis. Weekly is best, but every two weeks would be fine, even monthly would be great.

Interested? Talk to Murray or Bert Brossoit, soon!

Membership Scoreboard

Last week:

Guests = 1

Returning = 0

Follow ups = 2

We welcomed Ernie De Vera to our rehearsal last Monday. We hope to see him back again, soon. Andy Starke brought Ernie with him.

Talk to somebody about barbershop this week! Our target for members this year is for a 7 member NET INCREASE by the end if 2006.

Remember: If you recruit 5 members this year, your International, District and Chapter dues for 2007 are 100% fully paid!

We sang with WIC on Saturday

And we sang well! The show was very good, with a good pace, good variety and good music. The WI Chorus are singing very well under Rob’s direction, and kept the energy level up all night. Sophisticated Swing did a great job with their part of the program, and we wish them good luck at Region 1 in 6 weeks.

ARDESCO, an a cappella group composed of McGill graduates who are former members of Fusion were the surprise find of the evening. They sang very well and made a clear impression on the audience.

The guest quartet, Swinglish Mix, was terrific, and entertained in their inimitable style. Clean sound and great in tune singing with chords ringing everywhere from Stockholm to Napa Valley, with stops in Louisville, KY and Fort Myers, FL.

The eight-part songs went very well considering the small number of our chorus in attendance.

Another opportunity to sing!

Montreal City Voices, the chorus of the Greater Montreal Chapter of Harmony Inc. are having a Friends and Family night on Wednesday, April 19, and have asked us to sing our competition package that evening.

It will be a great opportunity to sing for a live, and appreciative audience just a few days before our competition, so please, plan to be there.

The evening with take place at the Karnak Shrine Temple, 3350, boulevard des Sources, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, QC. That’s where we sang on the show with WIC last year. It is off rue de la Marché. The fun will start at 7:30 PM

Guest nights coming.

On June 12, 2006 and September 11, 2006 we are going to have Guest Nights, where we will be making an effort of attract a larger group of guests than usual. We will learn a new song, and try to make our evening unforgettable.

Start thinking about people that you might want to invite.

We have fun every week, so let’s share!

"A Night to Remember" is June 3.

This years show is only 7 weeks away! Tickets are available, and Bert Brossoit is the ticket manager. Please give him a cheque dated May 15, 2006 for the value of the tickets you take. When you turn in your money, tickets or combination, you get your cheque back, and the chapter is ensured that the tickets out are sold.

We have budgeted to make a profit on this year’s show – something we haven’t done for the past four years. One way we can do that is to sell enough advertising that we pay for the costs of the show. Flyers are available.

It can be done, and there is no time like the present to start. See Murray or Steve! We will have tickets available by the beginning of April. Talk up our show with your friends and acquaintances. The price of the tickets will be $25.00 CDN or $21.00 US.

Travel for Division.

There is only 1 more Monday until Division, and we need to organise carpooling to get us to the contest and back.

Please let Murray Phillips know if you don’t have a ride to Colchester VT and back, so that we can arrange a ride for you.

Dues are due! Pay them now!

Those who owe Chapter Dues, please pay them tonight. We need the cash to operate the Chapter. If you aren’t sure if you owe, you probably do. You can check with Murray Phillips or Ray Watkins if you want to get the exact figure.
