Why isn't 11 pronounced onety-one?

Personal Commitment Contract.

The Board of Directors for 2006 wants to make sure that we are all pulling in the same direction, and have created a Commitment Contract that describes the behaviours that we all need to have that will result in a growing, happy, competitive Chapter and Chorus.

At tonight’s meeting, this "contract" will be explained, and each member will be asked to sign up. Most are things we are already doing, but there are a few new ones, and the ideas behind them will be explained.

This is not intended to pressure anyone, but more to help us focus on the things that are important for all of us to improve as a Chapter and a Chorus.

New 2006 Uptune getting there!

We got the first instalment on the new music for 2006 "Exactly Like You," on January 9th, and we were already singing it pretty well (note-wise) last Monday evening. We need to get off the paper as soon as possible, so we can work on the dynamic plan. It has some tricky push beats, and we need to get those nailed, too.

Rob Mance presented us with the learning tracks and music for this neat arrangement by Scott Kitzmueller.

A second sectional this evening will get us another step closer to mastering it.

No expenses without prior approval!

The Board of Directors agreed that no expense will be reimbursed unless the expenditure was approved, by the President (Bert Brossoit), or in his absence the Past President (Alan Mackenzie) or Secretary (Al Mahoney.)

Forms are available on the Members’ Only web site, or from the Secretary.

January Chapter Dues are due

Dues are payable the first rehearsal of each month. Chapter dues are $15.00 per month

Society Headquarters – Nashville!

"The Board feels that Nashville will prove the greatest location in which we can achieve our vision of the Society's future," said Society President Drayton Justus. "Nashville’s international reputation as ‘Music City USA’ connects our musical art form with many other resources to advance our mission and vision." The action comes after four years of national search

Nashville, Dallas-Fort Worth, and the Milwaukee-Chicago corridor had been considered finalist locations from an initial list of more than fifteen cities.

Talk to somebody about barbershop this week! Our target for members this year is for a 7 member NET INCREASE by the end if 2006. MEmbership starts with ME!

Time to sell Show advertising.

Believe it or not, the show is only 14 weeks away! That means we have a bunch of new music to learn, tickets to sell and advertising to sell for the show program.

We have budgeted to make a profit on this year’s show – something we haven’t done for the past four years. One way we can do that is to sell enough advertising that we pay for the costs of the show.

It can be done, and there is no time like the present to start. See Murray or Steve! We will be taking orders for tickets at the same time. so start to talk up our show with your friends and acquaintances.

The price of the tickets has been reduced to $20.00 CDN or $17.50 US.

Great Northern Harmony Workshop

Once again this year we are going to be coached at the Great Northern Harmony Workshop.

Everyone should plan to be there for the full day, as we will be receiving coaching as a chorus for the full day, by Steve Tramack, Director of the Granite Statesman. The day starts at 8:00 AM and will finish at 6:00 PM, after the mini-concert by the participating quartets and choruses. Please make sure you are there!

Registration is now $65.00. Complete your forms tonight, and hand in your money

Fund raising ideas.

FundScrip reactivated.

Do you buy groceries? Gasoline? Clothes at Sears or Winners? Repairs at Canadian Tire? Every time you make a purchase, you could donate to the Chapter’s coffers? FundScrip now allows you to pay by credit card, but the amount back to the Chapter is reduced. You can also pay by debit card online. If you purchase the cards by Monday, you will receive them at Rehearsal the next Monday.

Coffee and Hot Chocolate, anyone?

Alan Kenley has a supplier that will send us coffee and hot chocolate on consignment. We sell the units at $5.00 each and we make $2.50 per unit for the Chapter.

Computer printer cartridges get tossed?

Alan Mackenzie is taking over the printer cartridge-recycling project. Not every cartridge is eligible, but if you check with Alan, he’ll tell you if yours are eligible. If they are all you need to do is give them to him on a Monday evening.
