The Baystatesmen Barbershop Chorus, formed in 1961 and based in Norwood since 1985, is a member of the Barbershop Harmony Society (formerly known as the Society For The Preservation And Encouragement Of Barbershop Quartet Singing In America or S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A.). Our mission is to encourage vocal harmony and good fellowship throughout the world, and our goal is to be recognized in our community as a local musical organization that can be relied upon to provide entertaining performances enjoyed by the general public.
We average one to two performances a month and enjoy singing for weddings, birthday parties, tree lightings, local town and civic organizations, benefits, The Red Hat Society as well as numerous nursing homes and area Granges. We enjoy using props and humor as well as creative emcee material to make our performances personalized.
Do you enjoy singing in the shower or in your car? Drop into one of our rehearsals and see if singing four part a cappella music is right for you!
Can't read music? Not a problem. We don't require that you have any formal musical training. Barbershop arrangements are written for men with ordinary singing ability and learning tapes or CDs are provided to help you learn your music.
Is it difficult to stand for long periods of time? Feel free to sit with good posture whenever you need to.
Are you unable to drive at night? The members are from many of the surrounding towns and someone from your area would be happy to give you a ride.
Concerned about the expense? Our paid performances have allowed us to keep our dues very low.
We welcome any visitors who love to sing and would like to be with other men who love to sing solely for the purpose of raising their voices in blended harmony. Please join us on Tuesday nights, 7:30-10 PM at the First Congregational Church, 100 Winter Street, Norwood MA. Chapter meetings are held in the lower level of Pingree Hall. Entrance is from the rear parking lot.

Salt marshes, tidal flats, beaches and estuaries make up the 800 miles and 50 cities and towns of the Massachusetts and Cape Cod Bays. These special local places where we work and play help identify what we love about the Bay State… they draw us back again and again.
