Al Bonney - Pioneer District (Michigan) - albonney@pentel.net 
Al directs the Cherry Capital Chorus; Traverse City, MI Chapter. COTS faculty since 2001.  Served as Chapter President, Music VP, and Treasurer; DVP, YMIH (3 years); District EVP (1 year).  Taught training classes, wrote seminars and lead business meetings throughout his 25 year career with Marriott Hotels and continue to do this in my active consultancy.  Currently a member of the Harmony Foundation Board of Trustees.

Alan is a member of the Manchester, CT chapter and is a 26-year member of the Barbershop Harmony Society.  He is a past president of the chapter, was elected Barbershopper of the Year for the chapter twice, and Barbershopper of the Decade (1990s) for the chapter.  He is a baritone in the chorus and the baritone of the 2005 & 2006 Yankee Division Senior Quartet Champions, Senior Momentum.  He was president of the Northeastern District in 2003-2004 and, before that, served as District Executive Vice-president and District Vice-president Chapter Support and Leadership Training.  He was the 1999 Northeastern District Barbershopper of the year.  Alan currently is a Dean in the Chapter Operations Training program (COTS), is a Contest Administrator in the Society's contest and judging program, and is serving a three-year term on the Society's International Board of Directors.  He is also a member of Newcaneweng, the Northeastern District's honorary association.

Alan is a past president of both the Manchester, CT chapter and the Northeastern District.  He has been active at the chapter and district level for 29 years and has been involved in producing and administering the Manchester show for the past 18+ years.  He has seen the good, the bad and the ugly.  Learn from his experience!!  Alan will be the Society Executive Vice-President and serve on the Society Board of Directors in 2009.

Brian has been a Society member since 1960.  He currently sings with the Worcester, MA chapter.  He previously served on the COTS faculty as a Chapter Development instructor and has been a Dean since 2004.  Offices held include Chapter President, Program VP, and Chorus Director.  He is a past District President, Executive VP, Recording Secretary, District Music Educator and District Associate Contest & Judging Administrator.  He served as a Society Board Member (1997-2000).  Brian has been a Certified Judge since 1986.  Brian has been named chapter BOTY and District BOTY.  He is a retired transportation instructor.

Chuck Eaker has been a member of the Society for over 35 years and directed choruses for 20 of those years. He's taught a variety of courses and coached quartets at district schools and is currently a member of the NED Singing A's program. Chuck is currently the director of Schenectady's Electric City Chorus which has gone from not qualifying for the district contest to placing 5th in the district in just three years. He's sung in lots of quartets including Close Encounters of the Seventh Kind, the NED 2002 Seniors Quartet Champs. Administratively, he's held a number of chapter offices, been Barbershopper of the Year of the Schenectady Chapter, and has been the NED Vice President Chorus Director Development since 2002. In his real life, Chuck is a retired college teacher, a retired Computer Scientist at GE, and hopes to retire for the third and final time from MapInfo where he's a software engineer. Chuck's private life is "a source of joy" because he has two daughters (one is a barbershopper), two stepchildren, three grandchildren, and an incredible wife.

Charlie Davenport - Mid-Atlantic District (Pennsylvania) - bass@ptd.net
Charlie is a member of the Wilkes-Barre PA Chapter, 24 year member of the Society. Chapter President, Program VP, Music VP, Membership VP, Show Chair, Special Events Chair, Chorus Manager, etc. Served as Area Counselor, Division Vice President, District Director Membership Development, District Vice President of Member Services, District Executive Vice President, and District President. COTS Faculty Member since 1999, served on the Society Member Services Committee and was one of the creators of Operation Harold Hill. Member of the M-AD Honor Chapter DELASUSQUEHUDMAC.  Now supporting the Society as the Director of Membership.
Chuck Alexander (LA2008)
Music & Performance VP
Chuck Alexander (Music & Performance VP) - Ontario District (Ontario, Canada).
Chuck hails from the Ontario District.  He joined the Society in 1967 at which time he sang with the Scarborough Dukes of Harmony. He currently sings with the past Ontario District champions, the Barrie County Chordsmen. Chuck has held various positions at the chapter level including Treasurer, VP Membership, VP Music & Performance and Assistant Director. At the district level, he has been at District Division Coordinator; VP Music & Performance; EVP and is currently in his last year as District President. A district certified Standing Ovation Program Reviewer and Trainer; he was invited to join the Society Music & Performance Committee as Vice Chair of the Standing Ovation Program last year. Personally, Chuck is a retired bank manager, married with two grown married children, Gordon and Jennifer, the latter child about to bless him with twin grandchildren this January, if not before.
Curt Roberts (LA2008)
Show Chairman 211 ..The Next Step
Curt Roberts (Show Chairman 211 ..The Next Step) - Northeastern District (Maine).
Curt is a 42-year member of the Society.  He originally joined the Hartford CT Chapter where he served in most of the officer/chairman positions (notably not the Treasurer).  Curt started his District service as the Credentials Chairman,  then served as Area Counsellor, DVD for Division, Executive VP, Preident and Board Member.  He has continued for many years as L&R Chairman and Services Chairman.  Curt has had the unique position in the NED of being Chairman of the International Convention when it was held in Hartford in 1987.  After transferring to Manchester CT in 1988, he was active in the Music Program as Section Leader and Assistant Director.  Moving to Maine in 2005, Curt is currently serving as Music Vice President for the Brunswick Chapter.  As a baritone, Curt has quartetted with Acme Music Company in late 70's and early 80's (Division Novice Champ) and Senior Momentum (Division Seniors Champ) as well as a couple of champion VLQ's.  He is a Past District BOTY and a member of Newcaneweng Tribe.
Dan Fullerton (LA2007)

Dan Fullerton (Music & Performance) - Southwestern District (Texas). 
Dan has been a Society member since 1985  and a COTS Instructor since 1995.   He is Faculty Advisor for Mu&P, and a member of the Society Mu&P Committee. A former VP Operations, VP Mu&P and Chapter President with Masters of Harmony.  He has four International Chorus gold medals with MOH.  Dan is a former AC, CC and DVP with FWD District.  A resident of Texas since 2000, he has been a CC and SWD VP of Mu&P. Dan is currently a BMAL on the SWD Board of Directors, and the DVP of the Northwest Division. Dan is also the BOTY for the SWD in 2005. Currently singing with The Vocal Majority, Dan added chorus gold medals, in 2003 and 2006.  danfull@quik.com
Daniel Robillard (LA2008)
Treasurers
Daniel Robillard (Treasurers) - Northeastern District (Massachusetts).
Dan is a Software QA Engineer with American Power Conversion Corp. His computer experience allows him to work with multiple Computer platforms and types. A society member for 15 years, Dan has been a member of the Leominster Chapter and currently is a member of the Worcester Chapter Men of Song Chorus and sings lead. He has held chapter positions in Leominster as President, Program VP, Lead Section Leader, Assistant Chorus Director, and Show Production Director. In Worcester, Dan has held Chapter Positions as Member-at-Large and 3 years as Chapter Treasurer. For the last 5 years, he has been the NED District Treasurer and has supported and trained treasurers to use Quicken for chapter financial work and developing budgets. Dan has provided training and setup materials to the Barbershop Society for using Quicken on the Apple Macintosh Computers.  During his tenure as District Treasurer, Dan developed the current financial database for the District to maintain and report financial information. Most recently for his efforts as Treasurer, Dan was awarded the 2006 District Barbershopper of Distinction.
David Patterson (LA2007)

David is a 47-year member of the Barbershop Harmony Society.  He sang in 14 International Chorus competitions, with 3 different choruses.  He has qualified for International Quartet competition twice.  A long time director, Dave has directed 2 choruses on the International stage. He has been coaching a significant portion of his barbershop life. David was a Judge for nearly 25 years, receiving the title, "Judge Emeritus".  He is currently the Associate Director and Bass Section Leader of the Nashua Granite Statesmen Chorus.

Denis Brochu (How to be a Great Show Chairman) - Northeastern District (Vermont).
Denis is a member of the Burlington, VT Chapter. He is a retired computer programmer and is a 20-year member of the Society. He has served as Chapter President, Secretary, Treasurer, Music Vice President, and Lead Section Leader. Denis has twice been the Annual Show Chairman and was the Division Contest Host Chairman three times. He has received the Chapter BOTY award.

Ed Fritzen (Music & Performance VP) - Northeastern District (Connecticut)
Ed has been a barbershopper since 1969, while in college.  Before that he has sung in The B-Sharps (high school), and was in the Univ of Notre Dame Glee Club for 4 years.  Ed has held just about every Chapter Officer position, including certified chapter coach. He has been VP Contest and Judging at District level, and is currently VP Music & Performance for NED.  Ed attended BHS Director's College in 1991, and has been a Director with 3 different Choruses.  Ed has also been an active quartet singer (baritone) with several quartets, including Upstage Sound (Pioneer District Quartet Champion in 1998), Showtime, and Reaction.  He has coached numerous choruses and quartets, and was certified as a Contest Judge in the Singing category in 1999.
Fred Kingsbury (LA2007)

Fred Kingsbury (Unlocking the Power of the NED Web Site) - Northeastern District (Massachusetts). 
Fred started singing with the Walpole Chapter in 1970. While in college, he directing the combined Walpole and Canton chapters and led them to 7th place in the district. Fred has competed at several Internationals in the 80's as a member of the Providence chapter. Fred directed the Canton (now Norwood) chapter again until 2003 when he rejoined Providence. As a quartet member, Fred sang with his father, Bill in Three Dads and a Lad in the early 70's, Norfolk County Music Co. (2nd place District, 1981), Saturday Night Review, Generations (with son David from 2003-5), and presently with Jones & Co. He also sings in unnamed mixed quartet with his wife Carol. In addition to Chorus Director leadership positions, Fred has also been Membership Vice President and is currently the Music VP in Providence.  Fred currently works at PaperThin.com, a content management software vendor and is also the co-webmaster of the arragansett Bay Chorus, and Northeastern District websites.
Gordon Clarke (LA2007)
Seeking Barbershop Grants
Gordon Clarke (Seeking Barbershop Grants) - Northeastern District (New Hampshire).
Gordon has been a member of the Nashua Chapter and Granite Statesmen Chorus for eight years, and has been an at-large board member for five years.  Four years ago he was selected to be the district grant representative and received national training during Harmony College in 2002.  He has led several training sessions since then for district chapter representatives interested in seeking grants.  Gordon has established a Yahoo group for those who have completed his training.  Gordon established the grant program for the Nashua Chapter and has led them to the receipt of several grants.  In this training he will share his experiences and advice in building a successful chapter grant program.

Gordon has attended a national grant training session at Harmony University, which included one representative from each of the Society districts.  He has run grant training for NED (and HI and SA) for several years.  Gordon has been successfully obtaining financial grants for the Nashua Chapter for many years.

Following the untimely death of past District President and then chapter weekly bulletin editor, John Austin, Jerry took over as editor of Burlington's bulletin, The Undertone, which he published weekly for the next eleven years, The Undertone placed second in the NED bulletin contest several times and was the NED winner in 2001. The Undertone placed as high as 8th in the International Bulletin Contest. He sings bass in the Green Mountain Chorus and The Dreamers, a seniors quartet.

Jeff Forman (Hosting A Quartet/VIP? ..Have Fun & Make Friends) - Northeastern District (Massachusetts).
Jeff is a 19 year member of the Society and is currently an active singing member of the Nashua NH chapter's Granite Statesmen Chorus as well as a member of the Macomb County, Michigan Chapter in the Pioneer District as well as the Providence, RI chapter. He has held chapter positions of VP of Marketing & Public Relations, VP of Membership, as well as Business Manager and Show Chairman.  Jeff is currently serving the District as a member of the Events Team as well as Event Registrar as well as being Nashua's International Chorus manager for three Society Conventions.  His contacts in the greater Boston community has resulted in over $10k in singing engagements for barbershop groups.  As a quartet host, his credits are a who's who of International Quartet Champions and Finalists in all three barbershop societies and has been fondly nicknamed "chowda man" and "host with the most" for his unique style of hosting.  Jeff has been previously honored with a chapter BOTY and well as the NED Barbershopper of Distinction.  He is a former software consultant/project account manager for Electronic Data Systems and Qwest Cyber Solutions, and also was an owner of a printing business for 16 years. He is now involved with his new career of meeting and event planning.

Jerry Schmidt (Chorus Directors) - Seneca Land District (New York). 
Jerry joined the Binghamton, NY Chapter in 1974, and has been a member there ever since.  He has been the Musical Director since 1980.  Jerry has directed his chorus to three district championships, and has earned two district quartet championships since he joined the Society in 1974. He currently sings with a mixed quartet, "Sound Celebration," the 2003 Buckeye Invitational Mixed Quartet Champions.  After attendance at several Harmony Colleges and Directors Colleges, in addition to other individual singing and directing training, he became a COTS Instructor in 1998.  He is the track advisor for Chorus Director Instructors. jerry91346@aol.com

Jim is a 30-year member of the Barbershop Harmony Society.  He sings with the Nashua Granite Statesmen, where he serves on the Music Team and as Presentation Coach.  He was the lead of The DJs, three-time Northeastern District medalist quartet.  Jim is a 20-year certified judge and is in his sixth year on the Presentation Category Board of Review.  This year he judged his fourth Men's International Contest.  He has also judged Harmony, Inc.'s International Contest.  Jim has been on the faculty of Harmony Inc.'s HITS and the Society's Harmony College, as well as many District- and Area-level schools.  He has also judged the AAMBS National Contest (Australia) and the SNOBS national contest (Nordic European countries).  Jim is an active coach and has coached both men's and women's groups to Area, District and International Championships; including such groups as Marquis, Southern Gateway, Change of Heart, Synchronicity, the Village Vocal Chords, Derby City Chorus and New England Voices in Harmony.  He was named the Johnny Appleseed District Coach of the Year in 2002 and is proud to have been recently inducted into NEWCANEWENG, the Northeastern District's Honor Society.  Jim is the incoming NED VP of Music and Performance for 2009.

Jim Flanders (Membership VP MRRT Program) - Northeastern District (New Hampshire)
Jim Flanders has been a barbershopper for 20 years with the Keene, NH "Cheshiremen" chapter.  With Keene he has served as VP Activities (Program), VP Music and Chapter President. He served for six years as the chorus' Assistant Director before becoming Chorus Director 12 years ago.  Jim is a member of the chapter's Membership Recruitment and Retention Team (MRRT) and has been an instructor of MRRT at various training sessions throughout the Northeastern District.  He has served as a District Chapter Councilor and is a member of the NED's Standing Ovation Program, and the District's honor society, NEWCANEWENG.  Jim has performed in countless musical organizations including Musical Theatre, Madrigal Choirs, Bach Chorales, Big Bands, Jazz Ensembles, Dixieland Bands and Civil War Bands. In addition to directing the "Cheshiremen", Jim currently plays trumpet in a German Octoberfest Band, directs the Choir in his church and conducts the award winning Keene American Legion Band.

Joe Kopka (How Will the Standing Ovation Program Help?) - Northeastern District (New Hampshire).
Joe is a 52-year member of the Society, a former Area Councilor and District Vice President. He served as Chorus director 13 years with Nashua and 8 years with Manchester NH. Joe has been in the Society Judging Program for 12 years.  He sang for 3+ years as tenor with the Don Juans, 3 years lead with the Gate City Quartet, 3 years bari with The Old Men Of The Mountains, and over 28 years as bari with the Adventurers (past District Champs and International Semi-finalist). Joe has been Chairman of NED Standing Ovation Program for four years.  He has been awarded the Chapter BOTY from both Nashua and Manchester.  He has been a COTS instructor, and a member of the HCNE faculty.

Joe is a 53-year member of the Society, a former Area Councilor and District VP. He served as Chorus director 13 years with Nashua and 8 years with Manchester NH. Joe has been in the Society Judging Program for 12 years.  He sang for 3+ years as tenor with the Don Juans, 3 years lead with the Gate City Quartet, 3 years bari with The Old Men Of The Mountains, and over 28 years as baritone with the Adventurers (past District Champions and International Semi-finalists).  Joe has been Chairman of NED Standing Ovation Program for four years.  He was awarded the Chapter BOTY from both Nashua and Manchester.  He has been a COTS instructor, and a member of the HCNE faculty.

John joined the Society in 1977 and is a member of the Patapsco Valley Chapter where he is the Lead Section Leader. John began his barbershop career with the Montclair (NJ) Dapper Dans of Harmony, where he was BOTY in 1983.  John is a CPA and Past Chairman of the Society's Audit Committee.  He currently works as the CFO of the Baltimore County Public Library System. John is Past President of the Scarborough Dukes of Harmony and a member of their Chapter Hall of Fame. He is a vocal and visual coach, District quartet finalist, and a Contest Administrator, serving on that judging category's Board of Review since 2006. John is the current Leadership Academy Treasurers Track Faculty Advisor, and recently revised the Society's Chapter Treasurers Manual. He was Ontario District COTS Coordinator (1996-2002) and was instrumental in revising the BHS COTS Coordinators' Handbook. Larry fell out of Computer Science and into Music Education in his sophomore year of college. He graduated with a BA in Music Education from the University of Maine in 1986 and had a ten year career as a Choral Music Educator in the Kennebunk, Maine school system. Larry has been highly involved in the Maine Music Educators Association, American Choral Directors Association of Maine, Association of Computer Technology Educators in Maine, and the Barbershop Harmony Society, holding various positions of responsibility. In his spare time, his stint with The Management barbershop quartet brought two albums, a district championship, 3 trips to the international competition stage, barbershopper of the year for the Northeastern District, and the national MENC/SPEBSQSA Music Educator of the Year award. He has been Chorus Director Instructor at every COTS seminar in the United States, Guest Director at more than half the district music festivals in Maine, and has had an original eight part a-capella composition premiered by the University of Maine Singers.

Michael is a 20 year member of the Society, who like most of us is mad at himself for not starting sooner. He is a son of a barbershopper, and has often been called more insulting things.  Although a member of the Lowell, MA chapter for most of his BHS career, he has also spent time in MAD with the Teaneck, NJ chapter and in the FWD with the Paradise Valley, AZ chapter.  He is a cheerleader of the "small chapter" and loves his latest quartet, Eastern Standard Time. A Learning & Development professional by trade, Michael has volunteered his services in many chapter roles including Section Leader, Secretary, Show Chair, Valentine's Chair, and Chapter President. After several years as Patriot Division Manager, Mike is finishing his 1st year as DVP of Member Services, and preparing for his 1st year as DVP of Marketing & Public Relations. Norm Mendenhall (Computer In Barbershopping) - Northeastern District (New York)

Norm started off his own computer business in the city of Saratoga Springs, NY back in the 80's a few years after John Austin convinced him to edit the Nor'easter which he did for over 14 years.  He also was bulletin editor for his chapter and won two District Bulletin Editor of the Year awards and went on to place fourth in the International Bulletin Contest.  Since then he was webmaster for his chapter (www.racingcitychorus.org) for several years.  He is familiar with the copyright issues and how it relates to chapter web sites. Norm is experienced in almost every aspect of computers and how they relate to our "Mission" called barbershop (as Jim Henry would say).  In addition, Norm has served as District Recording Secretary, Mountain Division Manager, is currently a reviewer in the NED Standing Ovation Program and a member of the NED honor Society NEWCANEWENG where he also served as secretary for four years.  He has been the local chairman for many Mountain Division Contests and both Fall District Conventions that were held in Saratoga in 1998 and 2003.  He has also won the chapter BOTY award and the NED Barbershopper of Distinction Award twice.  His most personally rewarding experience was singing tenor in the comedy Oxymoron Quartet for several years.  He has served in many capacities in his chapter and is currently the Music & Performance VP for The Racing City Chorus and his wife Kathy is currently the director.

Raymond Schwarzkopf (Youth In Harmony) - Ontario District (Ontario, Canada).
A LifeTime Society member since 1978, Raymond is a Music Judge, a Certified Director, a Master Teacher, a CDWI Trainer and an admitted Computer Geek.  He has attended Harmony College (now Harmony University) 25 times as a Student, a Quartet Man and Director.  A sought-after coach, he travels extensively working with all types of music groups (vocal and instrumental) and visits over 60 BHS chapters a year.  Raymond has directed six choruses in his career, serving on the Music Teams for the Northbrook New Tradition and Kansas City Heart of America Choruses, and has sung in too many quartets to count -- the most fun one being The Musical Firm of Schwarzkopf, Anderson, Carney & Bray.  He is a constant supporter and faculty member of many District (BHS), Area (HI) and Regional (SAI) schools.  He constantly seeks out ways of sharing this music with youth groups, schools, youth quartets and choruses and coaches people of all ages how to be better musicians!

Rick is a 16 year member of the Society and is the President of the Lowell Gentlemen Songsters.  He has served as President of the Lowell Chapter on three occasions, and is a former Patriot Division Manager.  He is currently serving on the NED Board as VP of Marketing and Public Relations.  Rick is a former recipient of the Patriot Division Barbershopper of the Year.  He has served as the local host District Convention Chairman 5 times and will do so again when the Fall District Convention returns to Lowell in 2008.

Rod Rodrigues (Unlocking the Power of the NED Web Site) - Northeastern District (Rhode Island). 
Rod is a retired professor of Math and Computer Science. A barbershopper since 1981, he became the Directory Editor in the 1980s and has been doing it ever since. In 1995 he created the NED web page with the intent of delivering the Directory information online. A couple of years ago a strategic change occurred when Fred Kingsbury was recruited to make the NED web site 100% interactive.  This has ushered in a new era of team-based web management, and it has expanded the site into a very powerful interactive site.  Rod is also a neophyte photographer known to many for providing action contest photos of performances.

Steve is a 25 year, 4th-generation barbershopper who started singing in a high school quartet before joining the Barbershop Harmony Society. For the last 11 years, Steve has been the director of the Nashua Granite Statesmen chorus, 12-time (and 9 straight) NED champions and International Chorus Representatives achieving placement as high as 17th in the Chorus contest.  Steve is the newly elected NED VP of Chorus Director Development.  Prior to relocating back to New England, Steve sang for a year and a half with the International Champion Alexandria Harmonizers before taking over the director position of another DC-area chorus.  Steve is currently an applicant for Judge in the Music category (hoping to go through the process for certification in 2010).  He has been on the faculty of the BHS Harmony University for the past two years (and have been invited back for 2008), and has taught at a number of both BHS District and Harmony Inc Area schools. Steve is also an active coach in all three Societies for both choruses and quartets, including, in Harmony Inc; New England Voices In Harmony, Harmony Heritage (when his wife Renee directed them to 7th at IC&C a few years ago), Showcase, Synchronicity, Exhilaration and Limited Edition.

Steve first joined the Society in 1974 while in High School and  sang with the Downeasters in Portland, Maine. After many years away from the Society he joined the Providence Chapter in 1997 and has been Chapter VP of PR/Marketing and Chapter President. He has co-chaired annual shows and holiday shows and has been the Singing Valentine Chair for 9 years. Steve has previously served on the NED board as VP of Events for 2 years before taking on his new duties as VP of Financial Development, and is also the District Historian. Steve has received his Chapters "Tom Crocker" award and "Barbershopper of the Year" award. Steve has been successfully raising money for the Providence Chapter and the NED for a number of years and is the coordinator of the Annual Baseball, Barbershop, BBQ gathering at McCoy Stadium. Steve is also known for catering Afterglows for many Chapters in the NED.

Walt has been a member of the Schenectady, NY Chapter for 16 years, and the Dartmouth, NS Chapter for 5 Years, and has sung Lead in the "Revisions" quartet since 1994.  With Schenectady he has served as Secretary, VP Music & Performance, VP Chapter Development, Chapter Treasurer and Chapter President (2008).  For the Northeastern District, Walt has been VP Membership Development (3 Years), Executive VP (2006-2007), and now is our District President (2008).  At the Society level, Walt is a COTS Instructor (Secretary Track), and a member of the District Presidents Council (2008-9) and the District President Representative on the Society Operations Team (2009).  His many awards include Chapter BOTY, and Mountain Division BOTY (2004).  Walt is a retired Elementary and Middle School Teacher of 33 years, an American Red Cross Instructor of 30 years, and an American Red Cross Instructor Trainer of 20 years.
