Spring is around the corner, and so is one of the most important highlights of our Barbershop year — our annual Convention & Contest!
Kentville is honoured to be your host this year at the Horton High School Performance Center. The headquarters hotel will be The Old Orchard Inn, right next door to the school.
ACCOMMODATIONS:
Old Orchard Inn - (1-902-542-5751)- There are 100 rooms blocked off for Barbershoppers but will
be opened to the public the middle of April- So book these ASAP! As of March 12, 2008, The Old Orchard is SOLD OUT. There are no more rooms available.
Please check with the Slumber Inn in (Exit 12 off the 101) New Minas -Toll Free: 1-800-914-5005, or the Wandlyn Inn at Exit 14 off the 101 Toll-Free Reservations: 1-800-561-0000.
You can obtain room prices and answers to other questions, when you call.
All choruses and individuals will be pre-registered.
Please, download and use the spreadsheet Register-Sunrise.xls modifying the name for your chapter.
REGISTRATIONS:
Friday, May 02, 3:30-9:00 p.m. at the Old Orchard;
Saturday, May 03, 8: 00 – 10:00 A.M. – at the Horton School.
MASS SING:
Friday, May 02 –7:00-8:00 P.M.- County Fair Mall, New Minas.
LUNCH (Saturday, May 3):
There will be a bag lunch with tea, coffee, soft drinks and water in the school’s cafeteria.
CONTEST: The Division Chorus contest and VLQ contest will begin at 12 noon on Saturday, May 3, 2008.
After an intermission, the Quartet contest will commence.

EVALUATIONS:
The evaluation sessions for the choruses will be in the chorus dressing rooms. The chorus evaluations to be 10 minute summary sessions.
The quartet evaluation sessions will take place in their dressing rooms at the school.
BANQUET & AFTERGLOW:
These will take place in the Dining Rooms of the Old Orchard Inn.
7:00 – 7:30- Meet and Greet;
7:30- Banquet/Afterglow
The cost is $35.00/person (including tax and gratuity).
Tickets for the Banquet/Afterglow will be pre-purchased, with the cut-off date April 23, 2008, since we must be give numbers to the Old Orchard Inn. There may be a few tickets available at the door, but don’t count on it! No refunds after this date!
Afterglow:
There will be tickets available at the door at a cost of $5.00 for people who do not attend the Banquet.
After the Afterglow:
The Kentville Chapter will have a Hospitality Room for singing. If other chapters want to host a room, you will need to book adjoining suites. Discuss this with the hotel when booking reservations! That room will be announced at the after-glow.
Church Service:
Sunday, May 4, the Barbershop Church Service will be held at the New Minas Baptist Church, New Minas. Assemble there at 10:15a.m for practice. The Service is at 11:00a.m. Music will be announced later.
