Our 2001 CD Project

The five Barbershop Chapters of the Montreal Area got together at the suggestion of the Greater Montreal Chapter of SPEBSQSA to record a Christmas CD. A portion of the proceeds (25%) were given to the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Montreal West Island.

The five choruses were:

  1. Greater Montreal Chapter, SPEBSQSA - Island City Chorus
  2. Greater Montreal Chapter, Sweet Adelines
  3. South Shore Chapter, SPEBSQSA - Saints
  4. Montreal Chapter of Harmony, Inc.
  5. Montreal West Island Chapter, Sweet Adelines
The recordings were done in September during the warmest month on record. The ladies of Harmony, Inc. did their recording on September 11, 2001. Needless to say, it was a difficult evening, and difficult to remain focussed. They deserve a great deal of credit for turning in such a great product under such difficult conditions.

The committee that put the project together did a great job. They came in on time and on budget!

On December 8, 2001 a launch party was held where the choruses sang for an appreciative audience, and the cheque for $7,500 was presented to Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Montreal West Island.
