CHAPTER NEWS

Saturday, April 1, 2000 is the Memorial Service for Murray's Mom. All chorus members are asked to attend. We will sing "I’ll Walk With God." Please arrive at the Church of St. Augustine, 176 Westcliffe, Pointe Claire at 10:30 to warm-up. Costume will be discussed on Monday evening. A reception will follow the service and everyone is invited.

Your costume deposit is required TONIGHT! We are going to be receiving our new chorus costume very soon, and we have to pay for them. Please, make sure to give your $100.00 costume deposit to Jerry Silverberg before you leave on Monday evening. The pants, shirts, ties, vests, shoes and socks will be available very soon, and the pants will require a try on to ensure proper fit. You will also need to provide your shoe size for the shoes and socks. See Fred Tabah.

Mountain Division Contest transportation. Bert Brossoit is arranging for a bus to leave Eglise Ste-Sixte at 6:00 am on Saturday, April 8. He will be taking reservations for chorus members and guests. Please let him know your requirements TONIGHT. Parking will be available at Église St. Sixte on Saturday

PLEASE NOTE: Rehearsal NEXT WEEK on April 3, 2000 will be in Kellert Hall of the Y.M.Y.W.H.A., 5500 Westbury Ave. (corner of Cote St. Catherine Rd.), Montreal, Que. Go in through the main entrance. Our hall is in use by the Church that night.

Big Brothers and Big Sisters Bowlathon 2000 will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2000. Our Presentation Coach, Stacy Hugman-Frenette is organizing the event and would like as many teams as possible to participate. She is suggesting that we go to Le Manoir afterwards for dinner.

If you are interested and would like further details, ask Stacy when she visits us, or ask Richard who will pass along your request for information.

Do you have email and you are keeping it a secret? We have several email lists that are used for spreading Chapter/Chorus information quickly to all those members who are email empowered. To join one of the lists, please see Murray Phillips or Steve Wheaton. [Obviously for those reading the paper version.]

Bring in the money for your tickets and advertising for our Annual Show/Concert. Our show for 2000, "Beginning to See the Light," will be on Saturday, May 20 in Salle Claude Champagne at Université de Montréal and will feature PLATINUM, the 1999 Silver Medallist Quartet and the 1998 Harmony, Inc. International Champion quartet, Blue Champagne. This will be Blue Champagne's final performance. More than half the tickets are gone!

If you have paid by post-dated cheque and have money to cover most or all of it, you can give in the money and give a new cheque for the balance.

Advertising is an important part of the program, so ask your dentist, barber, mechanic, suppliers… We need to sell $8,000 worth of ads. Let's do it! Besides, if we don't, the costume deposit will have to be that much larger.

The Afterglow is confirmed for Le Buffet Dynastie de Chine and it will cost $14.00, not $12.00 as previously announced. This will be a fun part of the show, where we can unwind, and listen to the show quartets.

Music all learned? We are to be off the paper on I Only Have Eyes for You, Basin Street Blues, and Harmony by March 27. That's tonight! We should have all the songs for the show in our personal memory banks. They are as follows.

Here is current repertoire list:

Overture

I’ll Walk With God

Harmony

Sweet Georgia Brown

Didn’t We

Love Me and the World Is Mine

Basin Street Blues

I’m Beginning To See The Light

I Only Have Eyes For You

Did you?

by Ed Hinkley, Asst. Chorus Director, Sarasota FL Chorus of the Keys

How many of these things are on your checklist?

"The Dentist"

Dentist to Patient: {begging}, "Would you help me? Could you give out a few of your loudest, most painful screams?"

Patient: "Why, Doc? It isn't all that bad this time."

Dentist: "There are so many people in the waiting room right now and I don't want to miss my tee time.

Practice is something we do at home, every day, between rehearsals!

Rehearsal is where we reinforce what we have been practising every day!
