Last week we did well. Let us all continue pay close attention to the people who will be providing our musical leadership over the next several weeks. It will help them, and us, do better!
Congratulations, Robert J. Mance!
In case you missed it, congratulations to Rob, who is now a certified Music Judge, the youngest in Society history.

Save the date, folks. We are going to be having a great evening of singing and food. We, and the other barbershop chapters from Montreal, will supply the music. The food will be coming from us, and our significant others. There will be an admission fee. Jerry Silverberg will have more details in a week or so.
Leaders lead, Singers sing.
We have some new folks stepping in front of the chorus to lead us while Rob is on vacation. Last week went well, Let's make sure we know the songs, so we can do our part to make things advance.

Portland International 2002. Are you going?
Since we are hosts for 2003, we will be in need of a good number of people in Portland to help sell registrations and to promote Montreal as a destination.
Make your plans NOW and plan to be in Portland next July.
Montreal 2003 planning is underway
Please check the list of jobs to ensure that your name is on the list in a place where you will be comfortable working for the week of the International convention.
You will also want to chose a job where you would like to help out at leading up to the convention.
Get ready for the new dues payment system!
Starting last month, July, members are responsible for paying their own International and District Dues directly to SPEBSQSA International. Murray Phillips has a bunch of copies of the credit card authorisation form.
This will permit SPEBSQSA to charge your credit card each month for 1/12th of your dues. If you provide your debit card number, they can take the amount directly from your bank account.
This will make the payment easy for you and for them. If you prefer, you can wait for your invoice and send a cheque for the full amount.
Great Northern Harmony Workshop 2002
We have a confirmation from Déja Vu (Joker's Wild with a new tenor) that they will be coming.
For coaching we will have Road Show, Club NED, and Northeast Connection, all of whom are great coaches. That gives the current count of 16. Steve Wheaton has contacted others and is waiting for confirmation.
Jim Dodge has also contacted Steve about inserting the Singing A’s program for the Mountain Division into the school.
The school will be at Université de Montréal on school on February 2, 2002
Who wants to hire singers?
We are looking for paid singouts. The chorus has budgeted for several singouts before the end of this year.
We know we will be doing Christmas and Chanukah Singouts, but if you know people in companies, seniors' residences, running conventions, etc. the Island City Chorus will be pleased to provide a quotation for entertainment.
Please contact Alan Kenley. Do NOT make arrangements yourself.
Last chance for Harmony College Northeast.
The Northeastern District harmony education program, under the direction of Jim Dodge has put together a wonderful weekend in Fitchburgh, MA at Fitchburgh State College..
The sessions will cost $120.00 US for the classes, dinner Friday, three meals Saturday, Sunday breakfast and accommodation for Friday and Saturday, not to mention the great show that will be held Saturday evening.
