Music Team News

Last nights cabaret put on by the Montreal Sweet Adeline Chorus was a huge success. I know everyone who attended had a wonderful time.

This gathering of barbershoppers from all Montreal Choruses was long overdue and was greatly appreciated by the members of the host chapter. Bonnie Sauter , their super director, was thrilled with the attendance

The hat contest was great fun and although Rob didn't win a prize for his cow chapeau I thought it took guts for him to show up wearing it.

Our Cabaret is on October 13 and gives us another opportunity to spend an evening with all of our fellow Montreal barbershoppers. Please support the chapter by attending and sell tickets to your friends as well. It will be a fun night for all.

The music team is pleased to announce the appointment of Andrew Wheaton as head of our Presentation team. Now that we are singing at a wonderful level we need to add a performance package to each piece of music. I know that you will all give Andrew your full support and help him in any way that you can to make us a better chorus.

Thanks to all for doing a great job of singing at the CD recording session. Your patience in the heat and great in tune singing made the task easy and I know the CD will be a very successful fund raising project for each of the choruses.

That's all for now folks.

Christmas & Chanukah Singouts.

It is getting to be that time of year when your thoughts go to what to get your true love for the holidays, and where will we be singing this year? John Hatfield has stepped into the breach and has been busily arranging singouts for us during the Holiday Season.

Check out the calendar and you will see that he has been successful in getting us in front of several audiences. We will have the additional goal of selling our Christmas CD at our public appearances.

Cabaret - October 13.

Two weeks ago, you received a food item to prepare, and 5 tickets for the Cabaret. This is a fund-raiser, and the tickets are $15 each. We will be providing food, entertainment and dancing, and if we all pitch in, it should be a great deal of fun. The Sweet Adeline's Interchapter night was just in anticipation of the fun to come. Sell those tickets, and get your food ready!

Offer your services to Jerry Silverberg.

Did you?

How many of these things are on your checklist?

September Dues are overdue NOW!

Starting in July 2001, each member is responsible for paying his own International and District Dues directly to SPEBSQSA International. Chapter dues are paid monthly to Ray Watkins. Your September dues were due before September 30.

Canadian members have the option of writing a check and paying in Canadian dollars at a designated exchange rate or charging their credit card for the U.S. amount, and are able to pay their Society and district dues directly to headquarters in Canadian funds. The exchange rate for the third quarter is 1.5381.

Your October Chapter dues are also due.

Program Notes:

Rob Mance has been good about providing the program information for the current and following evening. I have to give him a brick for this week though. In order to have something in for this week, I am doing some educated guessing. The program is definitely subject to change, so my recommendation is that we come ready to sing anything in the repertoire.

Since we need to get everyone caught up, and reminded of the changes to our choreographic plan, it is a pretty safe bet that we will concentrate at least part of our time on our two contest numbers: My Romance/It's You and I'm Beginning to See The Light.
