How do you get off a non-stop flight?

Just An Old Fashioned Love Song

It's a song! It's a show! It's 2 weeks away!

"Yikes. Only two weeks to go? But I haven't sold all my tickets or ads." We must learn the songs, sell the tickets and the ads, and bring in the money. Fortunately, none of these are difficult to do.

There is a special rehearsal on Saturday at the Church of St. Augustine, Pointe-Claire, starting at 9:00 AM. The church is at 176 Westcliffe, off Hastings. TransCanada Exit 52 to Hymus, turn left to Hastings.

For Tonight Only (3 songs)

Key of Eh? (3 songs)

FINALE: Just an Old Fashioned Love Song (Reprise)

The afterglow has been moved back to Dynastie de Chine (across from Bombardier on Laurentien Blvd.). The cost will be $16.00 per person. Those who were there two years ago will remember the food was great and plentiful.

June 10, 2002 Guest Night

We will be inviting the male members of our audience to join us for a special guest night on Monday, June 10, 2002. It will be in the usual place at the usual time, but with a special program.

Invite the people you have been thinking about, and sell them a show ticket, too.

Ambassador Cards provided.

So, gang. Have you used any of your Ambassador cards yet? How about talking to the members of your church choir? Is there a guy at work who whistles all the time, or someone you think might enjoy singing with us? Give him a card and say, "Come and see what we do this Monday evening. I think you will really enjoy it."

What can he say? "Yes," or "No." If he says, "yes," great. Offer to pick him up, or give him directions to make sure he can find us. If he says, "No," offer to sell him a ticket to our show. After all he will enjoy our entertaining show and may want to come out after that.

Set up those risers, Baris & Tenors.

Thank you, to all those who have taken on the responsibility for setting up and taking down the risers. Please lend a hand where you can.

BARBERSHOP LEAD'S CREED

By Earl McGhee [From the H@rmonet] [Editor's note: For those prone to leaping to a conclusion, you may be right, but this is the second of a four part series. Next week the Tenor Creed.]

  1. I will constantly remind myself, and all others, that I am the natural center of the quartet or chorus.
  2. I will never be tempted to try to sing Tenor, Baritone or Bass, for I can carry a tune.
  3. I will strive to never drop pitch, for I grow weary of hearing the Bass whine that I am forcing him to go too low. Isn't that where he's supposed to go?
  4. I will make no attempt to understand why the Tenor sings way up there.
  5. I will take command of the melody and the other three parts can darn well harmonize with whatever I'm singing.
  6. I will treat the Baritone with kindness, for he is a sensitive fellow and cannot help making those strange sounds.
  7. I will smile wider and make more gestures than the other singers, for mine is the part that everyone listens to.
  8. I will, on rare occasions, allow the Bass to take the melody, bearing in mind that he can't be expected to handle it for long.
  9. I will allow the harmony parts to take a swipe now and then. It's all they have.
  10. I vow to remain generous, modest and unspoiled by acclaim.

Program Notes:

We will have our May schedule soon, but we all know what we have to do anyway. It is time to get the show music in top shape.

If you aren't sure what you need to learn or practice, you haven't been paying attention. (See page 1, Column 1)
