Can we keep the string alive?

The Montreal Expos have never lost a game when the chorus, or one of the chapter quartets, has sung the National Anthems before a game.

The winning streak goes on the line again on Tuesday, August 12, 2003, when the Expos take on the Colorado Rockies. The game starts at 7:05, so we will need to be there at 5:30, the same as the last time.

We will wear our green shirts and tan pants. We will look good, sound good, and the Expos will….

How about The Alliance!

At this years International, The Alliance showed a dramatic improvement in scores and placement. A question was asked on the Harmonet by Bob Caldwell, "How did they do that?"

Well, Bob. . .it is pretty simple when you get right down to it. The members worked smarter than ever and with more drive and focus than in years past. We took many opportunities to perform and participate at district events including Top Gun School and conventions. Being that this was our 4th time in as many attempts, I think we can also look to the fact that we were way more experienced than in previous interntionals as a factor. 24 of the gents had sung in the previous three international contests. The guys LOVED the music. We had GREAT coaching!! - Joe Connelly, David Wright, Cindy Hansen, Russ Young, Bill Biffle and Darryl Flinn and Rob Hopkins who were the e-coaches of the year (thanks 'D' and Rob!!)

Are we pumped? YOU CAN COUNT ON IT!! :) We went into Montreal with an expectation of cracking into the ten again. We were 10th in 2000, 14th in 2001 and 13th in 2002. To hear our name called as a medalist was one of the most exhilarating experiences I have ever had.

We made this journey while meeting only once a week. That's right, no extra rehearsals. If we had a Saturday session we would cancel the Thursday rehearsal.

Each man seemed to own his 2x2 better and better as the weeks flew by. The Alliance has several values and it was brought to my attention by our founding president, Ron Sykes that Alliance Value Eight was a huge key to our success. Value Eight reads: "Pursuit of excellence requires: Patience, Planning, Focus, Leadership and Extended Effort."

Speaking of extended effort - we were also very fortunate to have six members from the three JAD representatives that were all top twenty finishers singing on stage with us! Their experience and success helped to propel us through the week even more. Thanks guys! [Rhythmix, MatriX and Uptown Sound] Our visual team of Kerry and Steve Denino created the package. We are so very blessed to have them!! THANKS!!

I want to also thank the men for trusting me and the music team, the administration for doing everything so we can sing, our wives, families and friends for supporting us to no end it seems, the JAD for helping us by running great schools and affording us performance opportunites at district events and to all of the fans that have encouraged us along the way.

We look forward to the next year, concerts, contests and most of all the brotherhood and camaraderie we all share in the hobby. See you in Louisville - hopefully with three JAD choruses competing again!!!
