Advertising on sale for "The Magic of Barbershop Harmony."

Our show chairman, Alan Kenley, is showing great confidence in us by going to a wedding in Australia until just before the show. Let's make sure he comes back to a sell-out.

We have a great deal for advertisers this year. They get tickets along with their advertising. A business card ad gets one ticket, a quarter page gets two, half a page gets three and a full page gets four.

Murray Phillips is handling the co-ordination of advertising sales, and the creative and assembly of the program book itself. Please, give your ads to Murray for inclusion in the book.

Jeffery Mance is handling ticket sales. The best seats are going fast, and of course he would like to have money turned in as soon as you sell the tickets.

Ric Peterson, host of CJAD 800's The Ric Peterson Show will be our host and emcee for the big show, bringing his vibrant energy, infectious passion and enthusiastic personality to our show.

Peter Evans has taken on the job of co-ordinating the sale of tickets to Seniors Residences, and he is looking for your help. If you have contacts, offer your help to Peter.

VLQ to sing at Western Regional

A VLQ (Very Large Quartet) with about 10 members has been registered to sing at the contest in Watervliet, NY, as part of the Western Regional Convention and Contest. They will be trying out their sound on the chorus one evening.

Interchapter Night March 31

We will be hosting an Interchapter Night on Monday, March 31, 2003. All the Montreal area choruses have been invited as well as all competing quartets (and VLQs) to sing for their peers.

The festivities will be held at Église Ste-Sixte.

Our special guest that evening will be SPEBSQSA's Managing Director of Public Relations, Reed Sampson. He will be talking about the International Convention.

International Pins now on sale!

We have received the souvenir lapel pins for the 2003 International Convention and they are very nice. They are on sale for $7.50 CDN or $5.00 US. This is going to be a major fundraiser for the Chapter, and Ron Schurman has already sent out letters to the Presidents of all NED Chapters, encouraging them to send in orders.

International News

The committee chairs met last Thursday to review our progress. We are on the right track. We want people to remember Montreal 2003 as, The Best Ever.

There are over 8,700 people registered for the convention already.

John Schneider revealed that The Montreal International Jazz Festival has expressed an interest in having some of the quartets sing on one of the free stages during the Festival. This is a real coupe for barbershop, since it will introduce our hobby to a whole new audience.

The International Convention is going to take place in a little less than five months. We are accumulating the reserve of volunteers needed to make this a successful convention, and we have about 250 already signed up. Remember that we will need everyone's total commitment the week of the Contest.

Big Brothers Big Sisters Bowl-a-thon

If you are interested in having fun while helping a good cause, you may be interested in bowling while raising funds for the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the West Island. They are putting on their annual bowl-a-thon, and would appreciate the support of barbershoppers.
