If a mime is arrested, do they tell him he has the right to talk?

Singing at Christmas.

We are going to be starting some Christmas music this week. Please bring your music book with you to rehearsal on Monday.

CarolCade on December 13, 2003

The annual CarolCade will be held on December 13, 2003, starting as usual with some carols and Christmas songs at Central Station.

We will take to Uncle Harry's School Bus for the day and visit Seniors Residences around the Montreal area, and probably have lunch at the Montreal Association for the Blind. It is a tradition after all.

More details will be coming in the next few weeks. Peter Evans has been doing some good work getting everything rolling before he takes off for the city in the west down the 401. Since he will be leaving in mid-November, he will miss the CarolCade.

We can still call him on his cell phone, though. [Unless he changes the number.]

Learning is happening …

Over the past several weeks we have learned most of Give My Regards To Broadway, and it sounds really good. The members are to be congratulated on their sight reading ability, and Rob Mance has done a great job in teaching the chorus.

Won't it be great though, if we had our famous learning devices, so that we could learn the notes on our time, and get the performance rehearsal time we need when we are together?

I am assured that we will be getting learning devices for the other songs we are going to learn for the show. I hope this is true, because it will permit us to learn faster, and we will then be in a position to really dazzle our audience on May 29 at the Salle Pierre Mercure. Time marches on!

Harmony Inc. Rehearsal Location.

As noted a couple of weeks ago, the Montreal Chapter of Harmony Inc. has invited us to join them on November 1, 2003 for their Pre-International Convention Dress Rehearsal at Riverdale High School. It is at 8:00 PM.

The school is located on Sources Blvd., north of Gouin Blvd. in Pierrefonds. Tickets (to pay for the hall rental) will cost $5.00, and will be available very soon.

Primary Mini-Pitch objectives are:

  1. Inform of coming events;
  2. Record recent barbershop events;
  3. Reflect views of chapter officers and members as to chapter well-being (weaknesses, strengths, plans for future, etc.;
  4. Recognize efforts and accomplishments of members and others;
  5. Educate about chapter, district, and Society aims and goals, about various aspects of singing craft, and about events and actions that shape the future of barbershopping;
  6. Promote barbershopping in general, together with chapter, division, district, and Society events and programs;
  7. Recruit by encouraging members to bring guests, supporting membership drives, and publicising guests and new members;
  8. Encourage pride and participation in our hobby and Society.

I hope you feel that most of these primary objectives are being met. I am concerned that we are not treated to opinions of members and Chapter Officers on events, and the way things are going. Care to be a contributor?
