District Convention this weekend.
In the Northeastern District Chorus Contest that took place in Saratoga Springs, NY this weekend, the Granite Statesmen from Nashua, NH won, scoring 81.0% with 78 men on stage. They will represent NED at the 66th Annual Convention and Contest in Louisville. The 2nd through 5th place choruses are as follows.
The Burlington Green Mountain Chorus placed 7th with 63.5% and 34 on stage.
Hanover, NH is the Most Improved Chorus, and the Plateau A Champion. Concord, MA is the Plateau AA Champion.
The quartet contest winners were Scollay Square, with 72.4%, Bourbon Street (with Mike Nichols singing bari) were second with 68.9% and South Side placed third with 67.5%. From the scores the contest was a real barn burner with Bourbon Street having a great Saturday hit to take second. Scollay Square won both rounds, while South Side was a consistent third place.
The Cavaliers placed a respectable 14th scoring 62%. Well done, Guys!
New York Central Connection is the Seniors Champions, scoring 64.2%. They will represent the Northeastern District in the international seniors quartet contest at the Mid Winter Convention and Contest in Biloxi, Mississippi.
SEEYA! is the Most Improved Quartet, and Quick Thinking is the Novice Quartet Champion.
Next year the District Convention and Contest will be held in Lowell, MA on October 22-24, 2004. We will be there!
Harmony Inc. Rehearsal Saturday.
The Montreal Chapter of Harmony Inc. has invited us to join them at 8:00 PM this coming Saturday, November 1, 2003 for their Pre-International Convention Dress Rehearsal at Riverdale High School.
The school is located on Sources Blvd., north of Gouin Blvd. in Pierrefonds. Tickets (to pay for the hall rental) will cost $5.00, and are available tonight, and at the door.
West Island Sweet Ads party.
If you are into dancing and partying, the West Island Sweet Adelines have a deal for you. They are holding a Pre-Christmas Dance on Saturday, November 22 at the Church of the Resurrection, 34- 34th Street, Lachine starting at 8:00 PM. Tickets are $15.00.
They will serve munchies at every table and will have a bar. Music is going to be by Greg Innis. Sharon Dee (call her at 514-697-1126) will be pleased to provide tickets or information.
South Shore Saints Cabaret Night.
November 22 will be a busy night, since the Saints will also be holding a cabaret night at St. Marc Community Centre, 59 Haendel, Candiac. Tickets are $15.00.
Steve Wheaton will be able to provide information and tickets.
