Show music coming!
The Music Team is meeting this week and will be selecting six new songs for next spring's show. The songs will be chosen from a library of available learning tapes, so we will have both the new music and the learning tapes very soon.
Show location changed.
Salle Claude Champagne is not available for our 2004 show, but chairman Bert Brossoit has been successful in finding a new venue for our May 29th show. It will be held at Salle Pierre Mercure at UQAM. Bert has seen several shows at this hall and he tells us that it is a great location for our show. Thanks Bert!
Key of Eh?
at Red Hat Society Event. The internationally famous quartet appeared at the closing breakfast of the Red Hat Society, which was holding its first convention in Canada. The organisers of the convention found the Key of Eh? through the quartet's web site, and asked if the guys would sing like to sing for this vivacious group of ladies, aged 50 and over.
As you know, it doesn't take much to get them to sing, so they said yes and the rest is history
The Red Hat Society calls itself a "disorganization", and they are proud of their lack of rules and by-laws. [Sounds like some groups I have belonged to!]
The Red Hat Society http://www.redhatsociety.com/ began as a result of a few women deciding to greet middle age with verve, humour and elan. They believe silliness is the comedy relief of life, and since they are all in it together, they feel that they might as well join red-gloved hands and go for the gusto together. Underneath the frivolity, they share a bond of affection, forged by common life experiences and a genuine enthusiasm for wherever life takes them next.
There is an age requirement, as all Red Hatters must be 50. There are no official rules, although they have some rather strong suggestions, the first of which is regarding red hat attire.
Of course, to be a Red Hatter, one should wear a red hat and a clashing purple ensemble at all meetings to keep up the spirit and purpose of the (dis)organization.
They also suggest rather strongly that women under 50 stick to the pink hat and lavender attire until THE BIRTHDAY. This adds an element of fun to ageing, which they think is invaluable to women in society who have learned to dread ageing and avoid it at all costs. They believe that ageing should be something anticipated with excitement, not something to dread.
As you can imagine, the members of Key of Eh? had a great time. They even met some fellow barbershoppers from Truro, NS.
Some expressions to live by.
