Ebers finds a new career as host?

Bob Ebers debuted as a radio host on Friday on CBC Radio One, and did us all proud.

His one-hour show was the result of the current labour situation at the CBC, and he took advantage of an offer to showcase our show and UCANSING2.

As Rob Mance said, "Hooray for Bob! (AKA "THE LEAD"!"

Commonly Unique hosts interchapter

On Monday, September 19th, we will be attending an inter-chapter evening hosted by Commonly Unique. The evening will feature the launch of their new CD.

All five Montreal-area Barbershop Chapters will be invited, along with some quartets from neighbouring cities. The event will be held at Schofield Hall in Town of Mount Royal.

We will sing our competition package for a good audience, get to hear other choruses and quartets, and we will perform our eight-part numbers with the West Island Chorus. And, of course, we will be entertained by Commonly Unique.

SAI International now in Detroit!

The catastrophic hurricane Katrina blasted through the Gulf Coast and devastated New Orleans, LA causing the International Convention to be moved.

The following announcement was made by Joey Mechelle Stenner, Sweet Adelines International, Editor, The Pitch Pipe

September 2, 2005, 1:30 p.m. CST -- Sweet Adelines International announces today that the annual convention and competition will be relocated to Detroit, Michigan, October 4-8, 2005.

"The Detroit Metro Convention & Visitors Bureau, along with our hospitality community, is grateful to be able to offer assistance to your organisation and membership by hosting your Sweet Adelines International Convention and Competition and honouring your 60th Anniversary," stated Larry Alexander, President and CEO. "While our hearts are in the south with the victims of this terrible tragedy, our staff and community are committed to providing Sweet Adelines with a remarkable and memorable experience in Detroit, a city world renowned for our musical heritage," Alexander continued.

Sweet Adelines International is deeply saddened by the tragic events caused by Hurricane Katrina. Our concern is with the victims and their families. We honour them by joining hands, hearts and voices in harmony.

International Headquarters has received a number of kind and sympathetic responses to the tragic incidences. Our IRS status prevents the organisation from making direct donations to the relief funds. However, we know that Sweet Adeline members are kind and sympathetic and will find ways to make individual donations. Click here to find ways to help.
