We didn’t have any guests last week. How disappointing is that?
Talk to somebody about barbershop this week! Our target for members this year is for a 7 member NET INCREASE by the end if 2006.
Remember: If you recruit 5 members this year, your International, District and Chapter dues for 2007 are 100% fully paid!
Barbershop and CBC Choral Contest.
Bob Ebers seems to be able to charm the birds out of the trees, gold from the hills, [insert your cliché here]. After getting Executive Director Ed Watson to send information and meeting with the folks at the CBC the following was received:
Excerpt from email from Mr. R. Cooper."I was pleased to meet with Mr Ebers while in Montreal and have the opportunity to express on behalf of CBC our open support for the Barbershop choral community.
"To this end we are pleased to let you know that for the 2008 Choral Competition (assuming the competition takes place) the Special Category for that competition year will be an open class for Barbershop choruses, vocal jazz, and popular music. The specifics are still undecided but the basic commitment to this category is in place."
Well done, Bob! Now, will you take some time to sing with us?
Guest nights coming.
On June 12, 2006 and September 11, 2006 we are going to have Guest Nights, where we will be making an effort of attract a larger group of guests than usual. We will learn a new song, and try to make our evening unforgettable.
Start thinking about people that you might want to invite. Past members are a good source of ideas. Either they are still interested, or they know people who might be.
We have fun every week, so let’s share!
"A Night to Remember" is June 3.
This years show is only 8 weeks away! Tickets will be available tonight, and Bert Brossoit has agreed to be the ticket manager. Please give him a cheque dated May 15, 2006 for the value of the tickets you take. When you turn in your money, tickets or combination, you get your cheque back, and the chapter is ensured that the tickets out are sold.
We have budgeted to make a profit on this year’s show – something we haven’t done for the past four years. One way we can do that is to sell enough advertising that we pay for the costs of the show. Flyers are available.
It can be done, and there is no time like the present to start. See Murray or Steve! We will have tickets available by the beginning of April. Talk up our show with your friends and acquaintances. The price of the tickets will be $25.00 CDN or $21.00 US.
Travel for Division.
There are only 2 more Mondays until Division, and we need to organise carpooling to get us to the contest and back.
Please let Murray Phillips know how you plan to travel, and how many others you can take with you, so we can make sure we all have a ride to Colchester VT and back.
Dues are due! Pay them now!
Those who owe Chapter Dues, please pay them tonight. We need the cash to operate the Chapter. If you aren’t sure if you owe, you probably do. You can check with Murray or Ray Watkins if you want to get the exact figure.
Chapter fund raising ideas.
Coffee and Hot Chocolate, anyone?
Do you have an old cell phone?
Computer printer cartridge recycling.
Fund
Scrip has new outlets! All these projects will bring us some much-needed cash to support the activities of the chapter.
