Friends and Family on Wednesday!

Montreal City Voices, the chorus of the Greater Montreal Chapter of Harmony Inc. are having a Friends and Family night on Wednesday, April 19, and have asked us to sing our competition package that evening. Wear your Tux!

It will be a great opportunity to sing for a live and appreciative audience just a few days before our competition, so please, plan to be there.

The evening with take place at the Karnak Shrine Temple, 3350, boulevard des Sources, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, QC. That’s where we sang on the show with WIC last year. It is off rue de la Marché. The fun will start at 7:30 PM.

Invite your friends and family to come and hear how well we are singing!

Membership Scoreboard

New members = 2 Members in process = 0

Last week:

Guests = 0

Returning = 0

Follow ups = 1

We had a great visitor, Rasha Umeljic with his wife Rada, but no other guests. Let’s hope that is remedied this week. Talk to somebody about barbershop this week! Our target for members this year is for a 7 member NET INCREASE by the end if 2006.

Remember: If you recruit 5 members this year, your International, District and Chapter dues for 2007 are 100% fully paid!

Editor needed for "The Pitch."

This has been seen in the Mini-Pitch/The Pitch before, but this time it is becoming urgent. The Phillips mansion will be going on the market very soon, and when it goes, your editor goes against the flow and "goes East, old man."

Before that happens, it is important to the Chapter to have a willing volunteer to publish a newsletter for the Chapter on a regular basis. Weekly is best, but every two weeks would be fine, even monthly would be great.

Interested? Talk to Murray or Bert Brossoit, soon!

"A Night to Remember" is June 3.

This years show is only 6 weeks away! Tickets are available, and Bert Brossoit is the ticket manager. Please give him a cheque dated May 15, 2006 for the value of the tickets you take. When you turn in your money, tickets or combination, you get your cheque back, and the chapter is ensured that the tickets out are sold.

We have budgeted to make a profit on this year’s show – something we haven’t done for the past four years. One way we can do that is to sell enough advertising that we pay for the costs of the show. Flyers are available online.

It can be done, and there is no time like the present to start. See Murray or Steve! Talk up our show with your friends and acquaintances. The price of the tickets is $25.00 CDN or $21.00 US.

So you are here at 7:00 PM? Great!

You remembered that we have an early choreography rehearsal, and you are ready to start to work. Well done.

I am inserting this, just so you will remember. I had let it slip my mind, but thanks to a certain Director, I was reminded.

Division this Saturday!

Here is the latest scoop on Division. We will be singing 7th out of 8. Steve Janes says that the rooms will be available from 9:00 AM (we will be in room 221.) We will have a good 3-1/2 to 4 hours to warm-up and get ready.

Rob Mance suggests we aim to arrive at the school at 9:30 AM, that way there is no rushing around looking for people, and we will still have time to get ready.

There aren't any restaurants available in the area, so we need to be self-sufficient. If you want to bring food with you, remember that there are rules about importing meat and other foods into the US. As Steve notes, they will have food available most of the day in the cafeteria for those that get hungry.

As Steve notes, there will NOT be any audio or video recordings made, so we should think about doing our own.

If a photographer is on site, we may want to get a photo taken for use in the program for our show. We can also take one ourselves at a rehearsal where everyone wears their performance costume. The Board will decide at the meeting on Monday, before rehearsal is over.

Currently proposed, there will be two rounds of evaluations, starting at about 4:45 PM or 5:00 PM, so don't expect to be done before 6:30/7:00PM time frame and then the quartet evaluations will start. As Steve Jane’s says, prepare for a LOOONNNG day.

Dues are due! Pay them now!

Those who owe Chapter Dues, please pay them tonight. We need the cash to operate the Chapter. If you aren’t sure if you owe, you probably do. You can check with Murray Phillips or Ray Watkins if you want to get the exact figure.
