He ended the job as he began it; fired with enthusiasm.

Our last rehearsal with Rob Mance.

It hardly seems possible, but tonight is Rob’s last rehearsal with us as Director. The shocking news of April is August’s cold reality!

The last eight years, with Rob at the helm have been wonderful years of improving performance and musicianship. We will all miss his smiling face in front of us each week, but we will be cheering him on as he tackles the new challenge of a Masters degree in Music from Ryder University.

The "witty" saying, in this week’s The Pitch, is said in jest and with greatest affection. As Rob was saying last week, he was trying to get himself fired so he could collect a nice severance package. We all wish we could afford one for you, Rob!

The Search continues…

We will be continuing to search for a permanent Director, but we are very pleased that Lindsay Chartier and Drew Wheaton have agreed to co-direct us in the interim period.

The position of permanent Co-Directors was offered to them, but other commitments made that impossible for them at this time. Lindsay is the Director of Montreal City Voices, the Montreal Chapter of Harmony Inc. and Drew is just beginning his degree in music education from McGill University. We are very pleased that they will be sharing their talents with us for the immediate future.

Wheaton’s host the world, again!

Next Saturday, the barbershop world will again congregate in the back yard of the Wheatons, at 4135 Tracy in St. Hubert. It is time, once again for their Annual Salad, Chocolate Dessert and Corn Roast.

If you have never been there before, you are in for a fun day, and bathing suits are recommended if the weather is warm. Bring a chair and your own liquid refreshments.

To get there, take the Champlain Bridge and then the Milan Exit turning east. Follow Milan and it will turn into Gaetan-Boucher. Keep going until you see the overpass, and turn left on to Grenier, then turn right onto Tracy.

What have we done with Rob?

The list is long; the friendship is warm. We will miss you, Rob!

Nashville Harmony Experience

Planning is underway for a public exhibition area in the Society’s new Nashville headquarters. Preliminary plans call for visitors to be able to experience the thrill of ringing a four-part harmony chord, view recorded performances of championship quartets and choruses, and make contact with chapter representatives near their homes. The Society has hired veteran museum planners LaPaglia & Associates of Murfreesboro, TN to help with the effort. Working title for the project is the Nashville Harmony Experience.

Got an idea that you’d like the planners to consider? Send an email to NHEIdeas@barbershop.org. The message will reach LaPaglia & Associates and members of the Society Board’s Public Facilities Subcommittee.
