Music for 2006

By Stan Blicker, Vice-President, Music & Performance

There is exciting new music coming in 2006. Among the ‘regular’ numbers, look for the following songs:

"Exactly Like You," "Happy Go Lucky Lane," "Hush-A-Bye Mountain," "Blue Velvet," "J’entends le moulin," "This Is The Moment," "Yesterday I Heard The Rain" and possibly an 8 part arrangements of "Undecided."

Among the Holiday Music, look for: "Carol of The Bells," "Little Drummer Boy," "Chanukah Medley," "Masters In The Hall," "In The Bleak Mid-Winter," "We Three Kings," "Mr. Grinch," and an 8 part arrangement of "I Wonder As I Wander."

We also plan to revive "Que Reste’t’til de nos amours".

We have a lot to look forward to. We will all have to learn our music well and quickly in order to meet this ambitious addition to our repertoire.

Have you talked to somebody about barbershop this week!

Our target for members this year is for a 7 member NET INCREASE by the end if 2006.

MEmbership starts with ME!

Chapter Commitment Contract.

We will be discussing a Chapter Commitment Contract at our meeting. This is really just a way of formalising the things that we do as members of the Chapter and the Chorus.

This is not meant to exclude anyone in any way, but rather it is intended to get everyone focused on the same goals.

We all want to sing better, perform our best, and entertain our audiences. If we all agree to work together toward those goals, then we will improve and we will have fun doing it.

The items in the "contract" are mostly things we have been doing, but there are some new ideas, like regularly recording ourselves for our own personal review, asking for help if we need it, and helping others, if we are asked.

We are asking for a commitment to bring in new members, to being on time for rehearsal, performances, etc. These are tings that we need to do to make the chapter and chorus improve and grow. Let’s do them together!

January Chapter Dues are due

Anyone who is behind on your 2005 chapter dues, please pay them TONIGHT. We really need the money. If necessary names will be published, and we don’t want that. If you aren’t sure if you owe money, ask! Alan Mackenzie and Al Mahoney can tell you.

Dues for 2006 will be due as of tonight’s rehearsal, on January 9, 2006. You can pay $180.00 all at once, or $15.00 per month, or $45.00 per quarter, or even $90.00 semi-annually, but you need to pay them.

Name for the Newsletter

Thank you to Alan Kenley for replying with a couple of suggestions for the name of this newsletter. He was the only person that did. After weighing the choices, and asking my trusted advisor, Mary, for advice, I decided to make a small, but important change, so the first person to identify the change wins the "find the name change" contest.
