Warning: Dates in Calendar are closer than they appear.
Mondial Choral, Thursday June 29.
Arrival time will be 6:00 PM. We may warm-up with the West Island Chorus, but we can be there and ready to go in any case. The church is at 219 Boulevard Ste-Rose, Ste-Rose, QC, and to get there take Autoroute 15 to the Ste-Rose blvd exit. It is about 2 km from there to the church. There is parking behind the church, and on the streets.
We will be performing second, after the West Island Chorus. There is also the afterglow at the Village
Last Wednesday we appeared for the second year on the main stage. This was another exciting opportunity for us to share barbershop with a "new" audience. Since we were on earlier in the evening, we didn’t get to sing for 90,000 plus people, but there were probably 25,000 plus again this year. We wanted to do it well, and we did!
Your chance to be the Editor.
The Editor will be away for the next two Mondays, and unless another intrepid reporter takes on the task of illuminating the lives of the Chapter Members, your inbox will not contain The Pitch.
I will be attending the International Convention in Indianapolis, IN and then spending a few days with relatives on the return trip.
Phillips’ Phearless Prognostications
Here are my fearless predictions for the top five quartets and choruses in this year’s contests. The top place in the chorus contest is relatively easy to call, since the Vocal Majority has not lost a contest in the past 28 years!
The quartet contest is not nearly as easy. MaxQ is going in as the favourite, and with good reason. They have been singing together for four years now, and are starting to get the ensemble sound that champions need. Individually, this is probably the most talented quartet, but we have heard Vocal Spectrum ourselves, and we know that they are spectacular!
So, here are my lists.
Quartet Top 5
I also predict the Men in Black will start their climb to the Gold, finishing in the Top 20 this year. This would be the first Top 20 finish by a NED quartet in many years.
Chorus Top 5
I think that there are unlikely to be many changes in the chorus contest. The top 5 going into the contest are likely to hold their positions.
The Alliance, Greater Central Ohio, JAD
The exciting thing is that there are three "small" choruses in my top 5 and the Westminster Chorus are all young guys, the oldest at 35 is their director, Royce Ferguson, Tenor of 1998 quartet champs, Revival.
Sign up today for the Webcast, and sign up to go to Denver next year so you can see the contests in person!
Webcast details now available.
This year it’s all available!

Talk to somebody about barbershop this week! Our target for members this year is for a 7 member NET INCREASE by the end of 2006.
OutGames appearance cancelled.
Since they wanted us to pay $75.00 per man to sing, Bert said, "No, thank you!" That was a good decision!
