Welcome to Stefano Saykaly guest of Drew Wheaton.

Talk to somebody about barbershop this week! Our target for members this year is for a 7 member NET INCREASE by the end if 2006.

"A Night to Remember" is June 3.

This years show is only 10 weeks away! That means we have some new music to learn, tickets to sell, and advertising to sell for the show program.

We have budgeted to make a profit on this year’s show – something we haven’t done for the past four years. One way we can do that is to sell enough advertising that we pay for the costs of the show.

It can be done, and there is no time like the present to start. See Murray or Steve! We will have tickets available by the beginning of April. Talk up our show with your friends and acquaintances. The price of the tickets will be $25.00 CDN or $21.00 US.

Pay for Division registration, tonight!

The $20.00 US registration fee must be received by tonight, March 20, or you will be responsible for sending it in along with the $10.00 US late fee.

We are offering a good exchange rate and $23.20 CDN will cover the Division Registration Fee. Pay by cheque (Island City Chorus) or bring cash, but bring it tonight!

There are only 4 more Mondays until Division!

Dues are due! Pay them now!

Those who owe Chapter Dues, please pay them tonight. We need the cash to operate the Chapter. If you aren’t sure if you owe, you probably do. You can check with Murray or Ray Watkins if you want to get the exact figure.

Those with March 31 renewal dates for their International and District Dues must pay them or they will not be able to sing at Division. You can pay online, or you can send a cheque by mail to Headquarters. The amounts are $87.00 US ($100.55 CDN) for International and $25.00 US ($28.89 CDN) for District.

Lorin May returns to The Harmonizer staff

Lorin May has agreed to serve as editor of The Harmonizer commencing with the March 2006 issue.

Lorin had previously helmed the magazine from January 2000 through July 2004, when he was laid off in a large reduction in staff.

In his previous tenure as editor, Lorin imbued the magazine with a stronger feature orientation, high quality colour layouts, and top-flight personal reporting and feature writing.

Chapter fund raising ideas.

Coffee and Hot Chocolate, anyone?

Alan Kenley has a supplier that has sent us coffee and hot chocolate on consignment. We sell the units at $5.00 each and we make $2.50 per unit for the Chapter. It is good quality coffee and hot chocolate, too! If you can, take some to sell at your work, or church, or …

Do you have an old cell phone?

It may be worth some money to the Chapter. Alan Mackenzie has a list of eligible brands and phones, and there is a box to put them in. Clear out the junk, and help the Chapter. What a deal!

Computer printer cartridge recycling.

Alan Mackenzie reports that we are registered in the ThinkGreen printer cartridge-recycling program. We have shipping boxes and all you have to do is make sure the cartridge you are bringing is eligible, and then put it in the box. If you want to learn more about the program, you can find a lot of information on ThinkGreen.com. A list of eligible cartridges is available on the ThinkGreen.com web site.

There is also promotional material available (posters, etc), so you can advertise our program at work, church, bowling league... you get the picture.

Your goal in all of this is to keep Alan busy packing and shipping cartridges!

FundScrip has new outlets, and lost one!

The chapter can benefit from your car repairs, your groceries, your clothes, even lunch and coffee! … all you have to do is get the cards to buy at the outlets from FundScrip.

Loblaw’s and its associated stores are not currently available, but hopefully will return soon.

The weekly deadline to order is on Monday and you receive the cards or certificates the next Monday. It is easy to sign up, and now you can charge the orders to your credit card, although the Chapter only gets half the amount, but it is still better than nothing!

Now that is a good idea!

If you have a project that would raise funds for the Chapter, please let one of the members of the Board know. It may be the one that makes our budget sing for 2006.

All ideas will be examined, and even if they aren’t implemented right away, they may be later in the year.

Practice is something we do at home, every day, between rehearsals!

Rehearsal is where we reinforce what we have been practising every day!
