Chorus Directors Workshop Intensive (CDWI)
The Chorus Directors Workshop Intensive (CDWI) program is the single most measurably successful program for Directors ever offered by the Society. The program involves a one-day workshop held on a Saturday which runs from 9 am to 5 pm. Participation in each workshop is limited to 5 chorus directors meeting with 2 Society Trainers.
Morning session involves a discussion between the Directors and the Trainers where common problems faced by all directors are discussed and each Director identifies some specific problems he might be facing with his own chorus. Each Director gets to identify two directing skills or teaching techniques that might help him with the problems he has identified in his chorus.
In the afternoon session, a live chorus is brought in and each Director gets to practice the skills he has identified while being video taped and coached by the trainers. The trainers and the directors then get to review their video tape so the trainers can give instant feed back on the identified skills. Each Director gets to work with the Chorus twice so that they can get feedback from each of the trainers.
Since this program started, the CDWI staff has delivered more than 125 workshops involving over 525 directors.
