   QUALIFICATIONS!

At our last E-Board meeting, the Board asked the music V.P. and his team to set some requirements for performing in this spring’s competition. Following are their recommendations to qualify:

1) ATTENDANCE -There are thirteen rehearsals, 8 Wednesdays and 5 Mondays between now and the spring competition.  Members are expected to attend at least 10 of these, and to attend the last 4 ( the last two weeks prior to contest). The Board understands that out of town business trips, deaths in the family, etc. are excused absences. Members should notify their section leaders of such absences in advance.

(2) SINGING - Each member will prepare a tape of himself singing  the 2 contest numbers. The first taping will be done this coming Wednesday, January 22nd . Tapes  should be given to to your section leader who will listen and offer comments on the tape a week later. The tapes are meant more as a  constructive tool to help members improve, than as a way to exclude men from the contest. If the first tape has serious problems, the member will have 2 or 3 chances to submit a second tape. We'd like to have these tapes resolved by mid February, so that we know who will be singing in the spring contest.

(3)    ALTERNATE QUALIFICATION - A member who does not make the 10 rehearsals will be given a chance to qualify by performing the entire competition package words, notes, and stage presence in a quartet, in front of Gene, Bob Dunning, and his section leader This provision is meant primarily for snowbirds who are in Florida for the cold months, but have taken their music with them and are working to keep up
