NED is housed on a Windows 2000 Server
Unix Based Utilities area available on Scott Crevier's site:
PDF Writer
Install PDFWriter on your computer (available here in ZIP format). When you print something, you can select the PDF Writer Printer. This will intercept the output and create an Adobe PDF file for you; it will prompt you for the filename.
Login Script
From the NED site, you can get into the Free Web stuff and get a login script that can be pasted into your web page form. It will send the user information to the NED script that will check the NED database to see if they are in your chapter. If so, it will redirect them to the memeber page - otherwise it will redirect them to an error page of your choice.FTP
To maintain your web site, it helps if your host allows FTP access to the site (some, like Geocities, will not allow you direct FTP access). You can use any one of a number of good FTP client softwares. Here, you can download Winsock FTP Light Edition. For others, you can visit Tucows.com or Download.com and try one of the others.
The instructions here will be on the assumption that you are using WS_FTPle
We will also assume that you are connecting to a
web host: www.nedistrict.org
with username: Chapter
and password: spebsqsa
First, load the software and set the hostname, username, and password. Your screen will look like this:

Note that the password will not be readable. Note also that ANonymous is unchecked, and Save Pwd is checked.
In this case, it is also set to Automatic Detect. That way, it can sense the operating system on the host and automatically connect. Note that the Profile is irrelevant - it is a nickname that you create for the site you are connecting to. I have set it to ned.
To make life easier, you click on the Setup button and set the local directory to the folder on your computer. That way, when you connect, your local computer will be set to the correct folder. Furthermore, the only time you have to do this (if you have Save checked) is the first time.
When connected, the left pane is your local computer, and the right pane is the remote computer. The arrows in the middle are used to send files in the direction indicated. You can Multiple-select using Shift-Click and Ctrl-Click.

You can also double-click on a single file if you are only transferring that one file. If you transfer a folder that does not exist, the program will prompt you to automatically create folders.... you need to say "Yes"
